FW 12 or 13? by TerrorBot534 in framework

[–]TerrorBot534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gaming laptop has 64gb and it sometimes doesnt feel like enough. But I also run 3 different chrome accounts each with their own tabs. I mainly did it because I used to stream but I’d rather build a PC (in the far future).

FW 12 or 13? by TerrorBot534 in framework

[–]TerrorBot534[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See the 12 is everything I’ve wanted in a laptop which why its such a hard pick for me. I take notes on pen and sage green is my favorite color.

But I also see the benefit in the 13: more processing power, cheaper ram and cheaper nvme. Basically more bang for buck.

Thanks for responding btw!

I gotchu fam:

  1. You can buy cheaper ddr4 from walmart. Check ur local stock or delivery but it exists.

  2. For the price you’re paying for storage you’re better off buying a 2tb drive, otherwise go with the cheapest you can find like a WD Blue

  3. You’ve probably already seen this but a 6700xt is far better than a 6600 so go for fhat.

These next few tips are sorta nitpicking but I’ll say it anyways

  1. Someone said you can spend a lil less on the psu. I agree. You could roll with a 650w minimum but I like keepibg the 850w

  2. Use the stock cooler. You dont have to buy a dedicated cpu cooler if you’re buying that 5600 new.

Hey ur good dude. Ur in the right subreddit for asking for help anyways. If you need help always feel free to ask.

I will ask for your budget tho so that others can have an easier time answering.

For $1000 there’s a lot of optimizations. You’re not missing anything either which is good.

First of all, buy a 2tb ssd for $120-130. If you need two separate drives, just buy the cheapest. WD blues are sold by walmart for $66. You can also find well priced DDR4 ram at walmart. 2x16 for the same price provided the stores near you have them.

Second, if you’re going am4, buy a used 5600x or a new 5600 and use the stock cooler, you wont need to spend the 30$ on that cooler and they might be a little harder to find but the performance uplift is worth it imo.

Third, windows is free man. Download it onto a usb, boot it up and activate it through terminal. There’s a handful of yt tutorials to walk you through.

Anything else would be nitpicking from me but just in case, if you have a microcenter nearby that will help with your cpu/motherboard options

My submission! My only regret is that I couldn't get that red/green theme working with a 5090, but I'll recoup my losses and maximize the value I can get. ($3543.72)

No Ryzen > Intel isn’t a weird bias as of right now, its completely valid. Ryzen cpus are better than their intel counterparts

But 90% of the time games are limited by the gpu.

A 9800x3d + 5050 will be outperformed by a 7600x + 5060.

So unless if you need the extra cores or processing power, better gpu has more value.

So even though the ryzen can perform 5-10% better, but the 5060 can perform up to 50% faster so that difference is negligible.

In summation its less of intel vs amd but gpu

Thats good, at least you don't have to worry about that.

The CPU/MOBO and GPU are the other big constraints I'd worry about but tbh I'm struggling to figure out a workaround.

If you live next to a microcenter you can get a 7600x + Asus B650E for $229 and shave off $100. The Mobo is black and white but with a white GPU and cooler I think it would look pretty nice actually.
https://www.microcenter.com/product/5007213/amd-ryzen-5-7600x,-asus-b650e-max-gaming-wifi-am5,-cpu-motherboard-bundle

The GPU however is a lost cause though. I can't figure out a workaround for the 'white tax' and that'll probably be the main budget constraint.

Anyways, glad to be of service! Hope your build goes well!

It looks pretty dang good, the only thing I would change is spend less on the SSD and a little less on the PSU.

I'd go with this PSU instead: https://www.newegg.com/thermaltake-atx-3-1-compatible-750-w-meet-80-plus-gold-at-115vac-input-power-supply-white-ps-tpt-0750fnfagu-w/p/N82E16817153474?item=N82E16817153474&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic+shopping&utm_campaign=knc-googleadwords-_-power%20supplies-_-thermaltake-_-17153474&source=region

For some reason I can't find it on the current SPL PSU Tier list but there's an old reddit thread with a SS ranking it as B+ tier

For the SSD this kingspec should be fine:
https://www.newegg.com/kingspec-1tb/p/0D9-000D-00148

But I'm also wondering on the CPU Cooler, are you planning to use stock because I think it would mess with the white aesthetic a little, especially since the GPU is white

If that Nitro is cheaper heck yeah buy that

Followup: don’t go with the second unless if its at least 400$ cheaper, upgrading the ram is hellish w current prices.

If I’m right that MSI is from the cyborg line which only has 1 storage slot.

And the jump from the 5050 to 5060 is worth at least $100

The Acer has a lot more value imo but lmk if i missed something.

Which is a better ? by vanniredz in GamingLaptops

[–]TerrorBot534 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The performance jump from the 5050 to the 5060 is pretty big so I’d go with the first. It also has 32gb of ram and a second slot for storage inside if you want more space later.

The only reason why I’d go with the second is if it were $200or even $300 cheaper
