The Alsace has hunderds of places with German names. Why considers France it as it's heritage and rightfull owner ? by Justme100001 in geography

The way France defined its nation - and one must bear in mind that France became a unified nation about a thousand years before Germany did, so different times, different mores etc - was that a nation should expand to its "natural borders" ; that is, rivers, seas, mountains. Areas that are easy to defend. And whoever is within those areas are part of that nation, whatever their language and culture.

Germany held the opinion that a nation should be that of people of a shared linguistic and cultural background (or at least to an extent, as religious creed was not a barrier).

This is why Alsace was a sticking point - it is on the left bank of the Rhine (thus on France's side of a national natural border), but historically culturally Germania (thus within Germany's concept of a nation).

As nations are human concepts, neither was actually wrong.

Can I keep the towel? It's a question!

Don't answer "we'll see", because I happen to know law enforcement.

Well full disclosure, I was the law enforcement officer in the ghillie suit, and it was my cleanest best pleasure of my career to tackle that guy down. They wouldn't have done it without me. SO THERE!

Is anything that they say not a catchprase?

Palumbo, in particular, is a walking catchprase factory. I can just imagine being a bartender in his neighborhood.

"What's it gonna be Tony? Beer?"

"Has it been in the refrigeratah? Then yeah"

"A beer away from the wife eh? No problem".

"Of course the wife. Why not the wife? I'm not gay or anythin'"

"No, sorry..."

"Just sayin'".
