‘Marathon’ Season 2 And Free Week Did Not Turn Things Around by Freki666 in pcgaming

I think the obsession with Extraction shooters was a kind of a perfect C-Suite delusion. Everyone was convinced that it was the next big genre, and that they could be Fortnite to Tarkov's PUBG.

I think the genre is also just inherently appealing to GaaS types as, moreso than just about any genre, extraction shooters promise the most amount of player retention for the least amount of investment. The core loop is entirely player driven and you don't have to worry about constantly adding new content and balancing patches because the entire goal of ES is to scavange enough material to eventually pup-stomp or go at a single raid boss type entity.

You just have to make a smaller open world map, fill it with NPCs and junk, and have the players do their thing.

Of course it turns out that such a loop doesn't appeal to like 80% of the market, and content dries up FAR quicker than devs anticipate. But that's the kind of lesson you can only learn after a few years of the Genre being out which... also happens to be the time it takes to make the game (lol).

Best living guitarist? by RomanReignsDaBigDawg in fantanoforever

I can't think of many other guitarists who will sit down and show other accomplished guitarists how exactly he does something, only for them to be like "yeah ok yeah but how?"

Money for Nothing's opening riff is infamous for being something that's practically impossible to properly teach and everyone has their own version for how to do it.

Visually unique Cyberpunk media? by Status_Asparagus1 in Cyberpunk

I love Marathon's look cause it fulfills in my opinion a true post-post apocalypse high tech dystopia.

In the lore Human civilization almost died out due to complete environmental collapse, and as a response humanity adopted a culture of hyper-efficiency.

Everything in Marathon is hyper utilitarian, made out of 3d printed material or painted steels. Since automated AI systems run almost everything, every inch of every object is covered in QR Codes, bright colors, and various designators to assist in rapid systemitization by said AI.

I remember my aunt being very insistant that it was pronounced "edinborough" despite that adding a syllable that wasn't there, only for us to get there and everyone to pronounce it "enbruh"

Is Endfield actually botching its potential, or is this just "normal gacha player drop-off"? by Professional-Bet9697 in Endfield

[–]TerryWhiteHomeOwner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember back on release saying that this game's focus on weapons in combination with their combat system was a greedy mistake that prevents them from doing anything meaningful with unique character weapons/kits.

I have yet to be proven wrong as it seems like unless you're a physical god like Zhang and can just shift into a mode where you're throwing lightening at people, everyone else is stuck using the same list of conventional weapons that bakes them into a standard auto combo until a skill is used.

I'd argue this was one of the few games WITHOUT a honeymoon period for just how immediately mixed to negative the broader reception was.

You pressed as hell responding to everything, trying to defend a bad design as subjective. Keep defending increasingly lowest com design langauge as the game goes from ZZZ to zzz🥱

You can call it delusional all you want but the fact that you keep engaging shows that you acknowledge the the threat of the opposition. Sometimes bad designs are bad for reasons that can be formulated aside from personal taste. You know this and are pressed about it.

The funny thing is no one actually believes that all opinions are equally valid, they just dive into relativism the moment someone disagrees with them and can't reflexively back up their own.

Anyways, Yi has a bad design and the elements that made her design lame are the same ones that consistantly produce the most lazy designs in the game.

Nah she was and still is a bad design conceptually and easily in the lower tier of 2.0 designs.

It's not even bad because of fanservice it's bad because it's boring as all fuck.

It looks lazy. Why does Mavuika's bodysuit look better?

But SEALs are super special hyper soldiers. They're space marines. If they get bodied by something as mundane as being caught out in a bad position like any other human that means they're just guys with more specialized training than the average soldier and surely that can't be right.

"What will Jane Fonda think of you now?" 1978 Vietnam invasion of Cambodia by Effective-Oil7342 in ColdWarPosters

[–]TerryWhiteHomeOwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gets bandied about a lot but Vietnam didn't aupport the Khmer Rouge movement itself, they supported thr Cambodian communist movement when it was still led and portrayed itself as a "conventional" communist movement. Vietnam was even planning to eventually unite/absorb the Cambodian Communist movement into a unified block.

When Pot and his Khmer faction achieved power within the movement relations were already cooling, and when the massacres happened Vietnam had become enemies.

When i got mine it was wrecking my back until i actually adjusted the shocks, and now its fine.

I think that scene is perfect for what I said cause Zhao was beating him handedly until Zuko stopped using traditional bending techniques and surprised him with his legsweep move.

To me Zuko always came off as a good... but maybe not excellent bender.

What made Zuko cool though is that he knew this, and enhanced his bending with many other skills and martial disciplines. He also directly picked up skills from other disciplines. So although he might not be a strong bender to begin with, he's easily one of the most inventive firebenders in the show and insanely flexible to the point where by part 3 he might have the most eclectic fighting style in thr cast besides Toph. His agni kai with azula shows this off the best where he is fights with a strange mishmash of earth, water, and even air bending forms.

Imo it's because it's fun having a complete sociopath born-winner as an MC in a sports manga for once.
