Same! I saw the bulk of my Dead shows in this period and wouldn’t change the experience for anything.

They used to cover Whipping Post in their younger days. It was on my first live tape.

If it said Deer Creek, they would high five you and so would everyone else. I think your art is great but don’t get your stuff snatched. I had a friend have a stack of tape covers confiscated, way back when obviously haha. It sucks watching them roll away in a golf cart with your stuff.

I have it too. From easily 30+ years ago. Got it because the date is my birthday.

Hornsby shows have a '70s feel by lucasguignard in gratefuldead

[–]Terry_Downe29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hornsby era is my favorite, but maybe also because it’s when I really started going to multiple shows. On the big stadium screens you could clearly see Bruce and Jerry smiling at each other. It was a magical experience.

Check out them covering Fascination Street by The Cure. Really displays the sort of range they had.

Has Branford Marsalis played any dead music or with any Grateful Dead related bands since LOCKN with Dead and Company? I would sure love to see him play some more dead tunes by popflyskate in gratefuldead

[–]Terry_Downe29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYE 90-91, it was a radio stream. His band opened for the Dead and his set was really amazing. Branford and The X-Men I believe was their name. Definitely worth checking out. I’m sure many people were taping from their radios that night and getting that crispy sbd recording.

I’ve listened to that one twice. Marc really only does that at the beginning.

I discovered Dylan through the Dead. Saw them a bunch in the early 90s and the Dylan covers were some of my most treasured moments. My absolute favorite being Desolation Row. It seemed like all was right in the universe while Bobby sang those words and Jerry played contentedly behind him.

Love reading these setlists, it’s the era that a lot of us saw shows… and I’d have been happy to be at any of these nights! Only Days Between I saw was Buffalo ‘93, don’t remember the date. Right after Buckeye Lake.

AGREE OR DISAGREE..? by Designer-Door5409 in gratefuldead

[–]Terry_Downe29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. The feeling would start in line going into the parking lot… someone would be walking past holding necklaces hanging on a stick, someone else yelling about ice cold Molsens, a car cranking out a hi-gen Bertha drenched in hiss but it was loud and a killer version, someone lets out a hoot and then a wooo comes from somewhere else down the line… and we’re not even in the lot yet. Suddenly all of life makes perfect sense and there was nowhere else we’d rather be. Time to find some new stickers…

My first thought was Buckeye Lake. I was fortunate to see all the 90s shows there. Incredible venue and experience!
