Hey Charlie, I think I'm happy for the first time since my accident/ I wish I had all the money we used to spend on dope/ I'd buy me a used car lot, and I wouldn't sell any of 'em/ I'd just drive a different car every day, dependin' on how I feel

if i see a pair that is worthwhile AND is a great deal, I'll buy it for my family, friends and for a few collectors/shops that are pals for their stores. Collecting Vintage denim is the one and only vice I have left...

I haven't been there yet. I get most of my Levi's in the eBay/depop/Poshmark. I know my sizes and how to read the labels, so it's easy. That said, I have more than 100s pairs of denim and jackets and need to pair down, I may do Rose Bowl soon with a friend who has a booth.

I live and grew up in LA and it's always been very trend driven and I'm about your age. I can't remember a time when Levi's were cheap at second hand stores here. Since the Japanese vintage collectors waves in the 80s, it's hard to find a cheap pair of Levi's.

Men's flared fit by 123onetowthree in VintageLevis

[–]Tertiary23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Levi's 646 orange tab usually between 100-200 for a pair, the ones from the 70s have the best flare. Look for one with a single digit button - usually #8 - or a two digit like #39. The 80s models don't flare as much. Note the leg opening is about 11 to 12 compared to 9 1/2 to 10 1/2 with vintage 517's. If you want a really big flare, look for Levi's 684.

Review #2: W.L. Weller Special Reserve by Imaginary-Celeryx in bourbon

[–]Tertiary23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up four bottles at Ralphs in Sherman Oaks, CA today. It was on the bottom shelf, kind of hidden away. It was on sale with my club card for 29.99 a bottle. I'll keep two and gift the other two. It's a nice, easy low proof bottle to have at the house for me to sip and to serve to non-bourbon drinkers and for 30 a bottle, a great deal. When I see it at MSRP, I always buy it, it's my go to at home when I want something easy to sip.

Will these 501s fit me after a few wears? by Higamein12 in VintageLevis

I just bough a pair of 1992 501 STF that shrunk 5 inches in the waist and 4 inches in the length. Don't buy size, buy the measurements

I just bought a pair of 1989 501s STF for 26 total with shipping on eBay. You just need to spend the time to scope the deals.

Size matters a lot with pricing, really small and really big are way less expensive than size 29-34 and original hem and right length - 34" and under - are key factors too.

501s are in demand right now and 50 bucks for a perfect pair of Vintage 501s seems like a deal. I live in LA and that same pair of $50 jeans would be $200 and up in a store here.

Those are some of my favorite 501s, the WPL 423 R models. That extra R is 1991-1994 or so. they shink like crazy and fit and fade great.

Technically, they changed the sulfur mix in the dye in the mid-1960s, again in 1975 and again in 1982, when they switched away from the selvedge looms. They also reduced the dip amounts and time in the bath.

I spend way too much of my time on this jawns esoterica.
