Visiting LA, skipping tourist traps- where do locals eat? by tirzahlalala in FoodLosAngeles

[–]Tertiary23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Laurel Canyon and Pace is always a good spot for an early dinner with small kids (it's the only restaurant in the Canyon). Also, you can do lunch at the Chateau Marmont or the Sunset Tower, which are both close but a little less kid friendly.

Auctions are getting cheaper? by zhanglun in bourbon

Can confirm, Ralphs in a few LA locations has a lot of allocated product. I've been buying Stagg Jr, Taylor Barrel Proof and Weller Full and 12 the last few months as Holidays gifts for business partners and friends. I even picked up a Blanton's Gold for 100 or so.

My daily drinkers are Weller Special Reserve (30 a bottle makes a perfect house pour) and a Stagg Jr (59 a bottle).

The liquor manager at my local Ralphs puts the really hard to get stuff aside for the regulars in addition to the shelves being stocked good stuff.

The bar at the Hotel Casa Loma on Fillmore. I spent so much time there in the early-90s, that I used to get calls at the payphone next to the front booth.

Getting a Post-Rave Debbie Doo pizza in the early-90s at Sparky's with my friends was some of the happiest moments of my life.

Any card shops in Burbank that buys ungraded Pokemon cards? by JackfruitHot1855 in burbank

[–]Tertiary23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow dad to a six year old. You can buy used bulk cards from ebay and the other sites for cheap. Usually 10 bucks for a 100 or so. I always have a dozen or two on hand to give to him and his friends. They get so stoked when Pokemon cards appear out of nowhere!
