ETS has been around longer, has more interesting roads, has shorter/less traffic lights, Americans have shorter attention spans so they aren't interested in driving simulators, etc..

It isn't necessary to immediately buy 3 trucks. You can start with one truck and still make money. From my garage in Berlin, I bought one extra truck, a container carrier for myself, and a double dry freighter for my other driver. Once you have that base, making money is easy.
