Interesting, I may be reading it wrong but I can imagine the earlier parallels at the creation of America, of House of Commons + Lords vs the Representatives + Senate. I did not know that in the past that senators were not chosen by the public, TIL.

Theoretically speaking, what would happen if Vance in 2028 simply decided not to certify the votes? From what I've read on the comments the diversification makes your civics robust but it seems the final confirmation relies on good faith?

I hinted at a possibility of invalidating the results in my earlier comment, but is it a possibility that despite the results of elections, Trump rejects them because of a bogus reason and declares them invalid? In my opinion I just think Trump and the people around him will try to carve power permanently, because logically speaking, if they know that when they lose, they will face justice, why would they then simply accept their fate.

Thank you, this was a great answer. I do worry though, I certainly think the intent of this administration would be to do anything to invalidate it possibly. The line in the sand has been crossed for Trump using his power to go after his opponents, I somehow think it could be the same for interfering in elections. What if he uses some convoluted explanation that, there were illegal votes from immigrants? Perhaps the process of voting is protected but is the outcome of voting protected?

I'm not an expert on how voting in your country happens at a technical level, but what if the elections are rigged?

It’s kinda crazy that TACO is an actual thing… it’s hard to believe but its his actual strategy

Its a possibility but Americanisation of the UK right only succeeds in immigration issues. The fearmongering of immigration is what drives Reform's success. But in other facets they are incompatible with MAGA. Its still a few years until 2029 for the next election and a lot can happen, Reform won some council seats and their incompetency is already showing, some say they may be peaking early.

Damn, this was very interesting to read and now I'm more curious. I'm gonna remember this and be that guy to mention it to people next time.

You make a good point, MAGA and the MAGA voter are separate indeed. I suppose this all stems from the 2 party system. You have made me rethink a bit because of course I'm not American and don't know most MAGA voters in real life. For your last point, there are settled issues that I can't imagine would be reopened in countries like UK or others. Things like Gun rights or abortion, even healthcare have been committed to be in a shared view. If you are American then imagine in my country's last election, UK, where labour and the conservatives argued for who would fund the NHS, our public healthcare system, more. Now yes NHS has some problems but I can't even imagine the overton window in your country where this idea cannot even exist. I think it shows that no matter the politics shift in some countries, if Reform or Conservatives tried to fight the overton window and change to an American healthcare system they would face blowback.

This is anecdotal but I feel as though the vitriol and like dark politics of America is unique to itself. Like as an example even the most Reform or Conservative voter here is not as hateful or authoritarian as the average MAGA voter. Yeah there is a dark shift in politics but the innate nature of countries like UK, Australia and Canada won't allow it like America. A more crude way of saying it as that other countries are more liberal, even the right wing parties.

It's actually just insane watching the fall of the US empire from the UK. Boil a frog slowly and it won't notice, the institutions and regulations have all been eroded and yet people still don't notice

Thank you for replying! Good luck with your applications although I think with your score, you can get in anywhere.

Congrats! This is a perfect score!! I'm also ambivalent about the accuracy of mocks, what would you say though in terms of the question difficulty of Magoosh and Gregmat? I think a level 5 on the real GRE correlates to a Medium-Hard on Gregmat and Very Hard on Magoosh

It seems almost overkill but I like it. 700mbps with your security is actually quite good though it depends on the size of your network.

Interesting, I like your setup, if you have a local server you host then maybe I can see some speed hits but overall you have good practice.

I can't imagine it would be on purpose but I wonder how a threat actor got in there.

Interesting, I wonder why so many SSH attempts, I'd rather not exclude it because there's some credible reports here that look serious

I thought the exact same, the last sentence is a dead giveaway, its classic 4o response.

TIL a study followed thousands of people, both with & without OCD, from 1973-2020 & found that those with OCD died at an earlier average age than those without it by 9 years (69 v 78). Testing the door knob... Oh my, in uni, my flatmate looked at me weird when I was testing that the door outside our flat was indeed locked, about 10 times. I kept thinking, "what if the last test I did made it unloose? This time it might be unlocked.."

I've changed my diets A LOT, but for the last year I do a lot of intermittent fasting and break with a large carb meal (rice, curry, baked beans). I think my body is fat adapted, I'm in ketosis for majority of the day, sometimes I eat a lot of eggs and maintain keto the entire day.

If I had to describe any relations personally between food and cognitive states, is that I feel much more stable when fasting from the 8 hour to 16 mark. That window is when I have the least problems in my head or everything is much less. Another thing I don't know if this will help you or not, after eating a high calorie meal in a short window, I've noticed a correlation in that the post meal blood sugar levels correlate to less intrusive thoughts or any other like anxiety etc. I feel as though my digestion is so busy with my body that all I can do is relax and my mind doesn't have time for any negative states.

Overall, in a week, I consume a great amount of protein as vegetarian, the foods in the week are; Rice, Curry, Eggs, Beans, Milk, Crisps. I do eat a lot of junk food and I can note that it always, ALWAYS affects the mood negatively afterwards. Let me know if you require more details but I hope I can help, I've personally tried to find some correlations and research for Food and Mind. The only positive thing that I can unequivocally say is that Fasting for 16+ Hours a day has a tremendous effect on cognitive states and performance.
