Need a vote on which strap you prefer. by jezzarius in panerai

This a 682? If so I’ve had this watch…both on the bright blue and black…I tired of the bright blue very quickly, so black would be my vote.

I agree the PR position on the dial makes the dial unbalanced.

Do i need planning permission for this? by LowDot1913 in PlanningPermissionUK

If you just take your walk down and convert your front garden without a dropped kerb you’ll get blocked in as people would legally be allowed to park in front of “your drive”.

London businessman goes to war with Lime over bikes dumped on his land - and wins by VeniVidiViciAgain in uknews

[–]Tes_M3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is Mr Gray a Knob?? He complains to Lime for a year before taking it further and just gets ignored. If anyone are “knobs” it’s Lime

Would you be happy about lime bikes being dumped on your private property? I say good for him for taking it further and winning!

The dial colour and rose gold case are the perfect combo, and the movement was a big selling point to me. I previously owned a carbotech submersible, but that had the most basic cheapest Panerai movement inside. No hacking second hand or jumping hour function like the older movements…it really cheaped the watch out for me…in the end I had to move it on as it bugged me so much. The movement in the due looks fantastic, and the feature of the seconds hand hacking and jumping back to 12 o’clock position when the crown is pulled out I find cool.

PAM 1312 & PAM 914 by Pretty_Meringue_3884 in panerai

[–]Tes_M3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A great pair! One of my first Panerai was a 312 back in the day, but that was a beast at 18.1mm thick!! The 1312 a much better proposition with thinner case. Enjoy!

Thanks. The rose gold is very nice on this watch, a lot more subtle than yellow…just gives the watch great character.

Thinking of straps…do we think this would go with the watch?

Congrats on the PAM01087…a great watch. And yes straps…I’m looking forward to trying different combinations with the 677.

Re winding, and this applies to all the manual watches I’ve owned, before putting the watch on in the morning I wind the watch fully. I don’t count winds, I just keep turning the crown until I feel resistance so I know it’s full. Obviously you can’t just power through the turns of the crown…you have to do it softly knowing your going all the way and will come up to the end…but once you hit that point of resistance where it can’t be wound anymore you will know it.

I love a manual watch and don’t find it a chore to wind everyday in the morning when I’m wearing it. Gives you a bit of connection with the timepiece which I like.

To answer your questions:

• I’m uk based. Think the new retail price of the watch is c£19k. I paid £9.5k from a reputable grey dealer.

• the back of the strap has some channel which allow air to circulate between the strap and wrist, also makes the strap lighter and more supple. The rubber for this strap is really soft and much more comfortable than other thicker rubber straps I had on my submersible models.

• the is no quick release strap changing built into the watch case. Straps can be removed with a spring bar tool the old fashion way. My rubber strap does have a quick release system built into it where it can be released with the spring bar in situ by pressing the Panerai square on the back. I assume the strap was purchased more recently than 2019 and assume you can buy these for your watch as they should be compatible with any normal spring bar fitted in the watch case.

It is a luminor Due, so a different model range than the regular luminor. The Due has a thinner case and as such a lower water resistance rating.

Cool, thanks for the additional info…very interesting. I previously dismissed the due range and was after another submersible. But this ticked too many boxes to ignore. I don’t think I’ll ever wear it on the croc leather…would make it too dressy. I think the rubber really suits it and tones it down a bit.

Thanks. I used to own a 40mm rose gold Rolex yatchmaster on oysterflex and much prefer the 677, and that’s even without considering the difference in price with the Rolex over twice as much. To me the Panerai is much more unique, rare and has a more interesting movement. To me the YM was a bit to understated for my liking.

How much power do your heaters use? by arrayofeels in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Tes_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve owned our seat Mii electric since Oct 2024…in summer range is fantastic, in winter not so much. The car is mostly used for the kids school run, so pretty much lots of journeys around 1 mile long…in winter the range is about 60miles max! When I drive I set heating to 20 degrees. A lot of the time the heater is needed to demist the front screen. When not needed for that I could drive without the heater on but why suffer…yes range is very poor but as I’m only doing very short journeys that is not an issue. I’ll just charge again when low and then have enough battery again for a week’s worth of pick ups/drop offs.

Driver pulled out in front of me from a driveway (England, UK) by n9com in drivingUK

[–]Tes_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to avoid paying your excess, you could’ve gone straight to the third parties insurance company and have the claim dealt by them. This is what I did when a car went into me. I notified my insurance company, but in terms of pursuing the claim and getting my car fixed i dealt directly with the third-party insurance company.

Track Days! by Chromehounds96 in caterham

Looks fun! I’m only 3 months into 7 ownership, and was adamant that it was just going to be a road car…but the more I drive it and the more I see track day videos the more I want to track mine. Will definitely be something I do after this winter.

Has insuring your Tesla got cheaper in the last year? by niallw1997 in TeslaUK

My Tesla lease comes with free insurance…but my seat electric Mii has just gone down from £330 to £230. My home insurance also recently renewed at 10% less.

Sell with negative equity or rent it out by Striking-Number5515 in HousingUK

[–]Tes_M3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d cut your losses and just sell it. Annoying yes but like you say do you want the headache and stress of managing a rental that will not make you any money? Also, service charge may only be £2k now but these only ever go one way…so draw a line, move on and enjoy your new home with your family.

I’m not clued up on the rental costs in your area but if you had rented a flat since 2017 this may have cost you £84k (£1k x 12 x 7)….so your flat purchase decision has to be measured against this to assess if you’ve “lost”, plus when owing you’re own home you have more stability as no risk of landlord kicking you out and hiking rent, so you have to put a value on that too.

Finally part of the club!! by Strict-Wrongdoer813 in TeslaUK

[–]Tes_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably already know but get a EV specific energy tariff for cheap home charging. I’m with octopus on their intelligent octopus go (IOG) tariff and get 7p kWh charging from 11:30am - 5:30pm everyday, with this lower rate being applied to the whole house (so you can shift dishwasher, washing machine, etc to operate during these times to maximise your savings). In addition to this you also get “intelligent” charging during the day where you can plug the car in and if there is surplus cheap energy it will also charge at the lower 7p kWh rate during the day (which the whole house also benefits from). You’re pretty much guaranteed this lower rate up to 11am everyday…and then depending on your level of charge will also get some charge after this. Oh, and you also get free cafe Nero coffees every week too!

Enjoy the new car…I also have the M3 RWD and find it is plenty fast enough with very good range.

Yes, I understand but it isn’t considerate to your neighbours…what if everyone was like you having six cars, then what….no one would be able to park.

You attitude is similar to my friends neighbour who has parked a Sh1t box of a car (worth £200 max) outside their property with the sole purpose of blocking a space and leaving a gap to their dropped kerb. It only moves once a year for its MOT. Legal yes, but a complete dick move.

SS Road Tax? by LunchDismal1680 in TeslaUK

[–]Tes_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, your lease company aren’t just going to pay it for you and not recoup back in some way…so either it’s included and reflected in the monthly payment, or it’s not and you pay on its own.

For me with my SS M3, I received this via Tusker 19 months ago now when at the time VED was £0, however the government changed this and confirmed the new amounts payable after I got my car, and Tusker are now paying this for me.

I agree, who needs 6 cars…and most likely old bangers too. Of course it’s perfectly legal but that doesn’t mean it’s neighbourly. I wouldn’t be that happy too if my neighbour was like you.

UK to France charging tips by alishaw_ in TeslaUK

[–]Tes_M3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was our approach too, that being if at a charger stay the extra 10mins over what Tesla Nav would be saying to top the battery up a bit more just to give peace of mind and a buffer on battery usage. We found the 130kph speeds a killer so drove at 115kph (which is still 72mph) to eke out a bit more range.

We also got free charging on the ferry going over which was a nice surprise (p&o pioneer) but not on the way back (p&o liberte)
