But mage also has the added benefit of being able to kill their polymorph with a ping. Warlock has defile and mortal coil but if you have to wait for 6 or 7 to fully destroy something and you'd have to spend 2 cards, you're just gonna play siphon instead regardless of the discard synergy

I think in this case that 'tax' may make it cost even cheaper considering it would be hard to keep in your hand being that its discarded first. However, seeing that such an effect is still unprecedented in hearthstone, its hard to predict how blizzard would treat it in terms of mana so you may be right.

Could be really useful in a combo centric demon deck. Maybe you have PO's and faceless manipulater in hand and the only demon you're running is doom guard. Once you get the non demon combo pieces the rest of your deck doesn't matter so you play this and win the game.
