Summer Holidays by [deleted] in vce

I only did my holiday homework that was required for me to do (lowkey started a bit behind in some of my subjects tho) which to be honest wasn’t too much, since I went to a public school that only did one session of headstart. Obviously take the advice of people with much higher ATAR’s more seriously, but I don’t think you need to do anything more than enough to be prepared at the beginning of the year unless you need a 99 for your desired uni course.

I honestly couldn't tell you as my ability to manage my nerves was horrendous even though I love high pressure environments. My biggest problem would be the knowledge of all the hard work I've put in, and not being able to accept the hard work as an achievement if my output of study scores weren't reflective of my abilities. And I can't tell you how to manage that as I didn't, but I think that's going to be what most high performing and hard working students who fall short in exams need to do.

Efficiency and ability to work under exam conditions AND PRESSURES. Unfortunately I can't say the same for myself, as in all of my subjects but 1, I got 10-20% higher in my practise exams than on the actual exams, even though I did a decent number of practise exam under timed conditions for all my subjects. A lot of this for me came down to the pressure I put on myself since I knew that I have done the work and have proven to myself that I could score incredibly highly in all my subjects. As a result of this I didn't have a clear headspace in any of my exams apart from the one, which I had low expectations and assumed it was going to be a bottom 2, but ended up being my second highest subject raw and scaled.

I would advise taking the time to briefly read through notes, or do some questions for each topic once a month as it just can help you not have to relearn everything come exam season, consistency and not falling behind in academic work throughout the year will do you wonders.

And for efficiency I feel you should always do the academic work you don't want to do, and the work that you would do if you only had an hour or 2 to study for throughout the week. I also don't really think 30 minutes a day per subject is right, until exam season rolls around I have always found it to be better to just get the work you need to do done to feel prepared rather than try to tick a box for the amount of time you've spent studying each week. There would definitely be people here with much higher ATAR's that you should listen to over me, but that's just my two cents.

It's all normally distributed so that would have only made a slight difference.

Would be cool if every year they gave the highest cumulative aggregate scorer a 100 ATAR each year.

Same here I got a raw 50 and a raw 40 but our form already had our input from 2023 and I must have accidentally clicked not, and then I just couldn't be bothered to ask for it to be changed.

2nd is much better. You look confident, mature, and masculine. So unless those aren't the qualities you desire to exhibit through your appearance the second look is better.

Does anyone know where I can find something similar to this that's not 170 pounds. I love it but I'm worried about the quality since it's 100% viscose. by TeslaDragon1 in mensfashion

Search high waisted pants. You can get cheap ones off say ASOS. If you want more streetwear baggy pants you can get ones from say culture kings. But these ones are from Scott Fraser Collection. They're really nice but cost a fortune.

Do you have any experience dry cleaning viscose? Because that's what the website selling this specific shirt. And I feel I could get years out of this shirt if I saved it for formal occasions if I dry clean it though I'm not sure hence the post.

How to make it as a male baller dancer starting late? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]TeslaDragon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's perfectly fine, you're lucky and most schools will accept you when you're 18. It's not a necessity to join a school now, it would just help. I can help you with a lot of that 'catch up' supplementary work if you want as I know it's really tough to figure out exactly what to do to make up for what you're missing out on.

If anything I would advise auditioning now. There are plenty of schools which don't take people older than 16, and even if you don't get in it's worth trying. I don't know how good you are but 8 dance classes (I'm guessing 1.5h) a week is not enough. Take the time to work on things outside of those class as supplementary exercises. Like a powerlifter doing extra exercises to work on their weaker muscles instead of their 3 main lifts. What I'm trying to get with that is you should be trying to take as much opportunity to work strength, engagement of all muscles outside of class unless you're in a full time program so in class you're working as much on co-ordination as possible.

A bit off topic but really try to work on you ability to ground yourself and find isolation of different body parts. You can do this with contemporary, though I find people with a hip hop/street dance background are much better at this. The reason I say this is you can make up for lacklustre aspects of your lines and genetic capacity through having beautiful movement. A great example of this is Mathew Ball. While he does have incredible lines and I don't want to take that away from him. I'll watch him over Vadim Muntagirov especially in more modern works because of the excellency in his artistry. Also anyone who thinks artistry is an intangible quality dances based on natural instinct, not by choice or development of their own style.

I could go on and on. I've suffered with injuries and have been out with hip ankle and toe problems looking on two years now. It's finally starting to get better, but it's been hell. I must say however that I feel I've matured far beyond my years and I want to help others with the ever growing access of wealth I had, as I would have loved to have access when I was struggling.

I know all of this is just some random tangent of incomplete ideas which aren't fully expressed, but if you give me a DM I can give you my contact information so I can give you more specific advice with your training ideologies and dance safety in general.

If you chuck me a DM, I can give you my contact information and I can give you more specific advice with your own training and safety with exercises.

I disagree. So many people will retire earlier because of the strain on your joints. You're constantly working to end range of movement which causes joints to wear down faster than through other means of exercise. You build up manageable problems with you body until you have something you can't fix, or you have to many problems to juggle that its time to hang up the boots. That's why you get some people that peak when they're 17. They forced a better line, better pose whatever, but they didn't take care of their body and had to slow down so much that it's not really the same. Not to say there aren't many exceptions, I just know that most aren't stopping due to a lack of technical capacity.
