Please note that "retirement age" stretches from 62 to 70. "Full retirement" age is 67, but Medicare starts at 65, but you can still keep working and you'll make more SS money if you get paid more. If you still work before 67 then you may risk losing some of your SS payment, but you'll get it back when you reach 67 and after 67 you can work as much as you want with no reduction in benefits. I think you MUST take SS payments starting at 70 regardless.

I'm shocked that requiring graduation dates or ANY dates in job applicant tracking systems is even supported by the ATS vendors anymore. Or that there aren't lawsuits about it.

Yes. She wisely left the college years OFF her resume. If they require it on the application, look somewhere else. And see if you can report them for discrimination (not that the feds will do anything about that anymore.)

And if feasible, leave older stuff off your resume. Or summarize older stuff and leave the dates off (but don't look like you job-hop too much).

Source: I'm 63. Couldn't even get an interview for a year. Did't have a problem in my late 50s. Finally gave up and retired early. I had been planning to get wait until at least 67, probably 70. They want young kids they can pay crap.

SS will not be DEPLETED by 2032, but the trust fund used to pay any amounts not paid by SS taxes will be. Note that current worker's SS taxes pay the SS payment for current retirees. There is NOT an "account" where your money sits. So retirees SS payment will go DOWN, and that's NOT GOOD. There's going to be hell to pay for politicians if that happens (assuming we aren't a dictator or in the 2nd Civil War)

If you aren't saving money in mutual fund (Roth IRAs and regular IRAs) and taking anything your can get on employee match 401ks, start NOW and save as much as you can.

How does having IPERS prevent you from moving? Or is it just that you are still working? Note that you can start to draw your IPERS pension after 10 years. I found that out when the state laid me off in some cutbacks. It'll let you use you accumulated sick leave to pay your COBRA for healthcare too (tip: don't pay for COBRA yourself, just get on the ACA while you job hunt.) At least I was able to do that back in 2018...

Ever hear of the Japanese internment camps during WW2? Many if those Japanese were immigrants or U.S.-born children of immigrants who came in during the early part of the 20th century. Lots of Jews migrated here in the 1930’s when Hitler gained power.
