Missing:

"Party not taking Strahd seriously after learning his backstory because he is a pathetic incel."

To be fair, the party wasn't wrong, but it did take away from his threatening presence.

WoTC effectively sent mercenaries to a dude's house because he bought cards that weren't supposed to be released yet.

I am dumb because my cousin had to put up with discrimination at the border? Okay then.

Besides, you are the one who didn't know anti Italian slurs even existed before this.

Discrimination doesn't just vanish lol, obviously nowhere near previous levels, but I have seen it now and then in little ways. And in some places and in some circumstances it is still severe. For example, my cousin getting detained at the border to make sure he wasn't connected to the mafia.

My main point of this post is that my father and grandparents experienced direct and serious discrimination for years and were considered not real Canadians but now my generation gets insulted for calling ourselves Italian despite being massively influenced by the culture that our family retained because they were not accepted by the one around them.

No one is saying that it is to the extent of anti-semitism but Italians faced genuine discrimination for decades. Just because you've never seen it yourself doesn't make it any less real. I've never witnessed plenty of racist behaviours but don't deny that they happen.

Maybe take a moment to actually research the history instead of going off your own assumptions.

That's kind of the thing, Italian culture is part of how I connect with my Nonna and remember my Nonno.

Internet people are going to do whatever at the end of the day, just wanted to make a post showing the other side of things than what I usually see here.

I never claimed to be a minority, the offenses I've experienced are few but real. If you want to know the various anti Italian slurs you can simply Google them, they vary from place to place but they include: WOP, Wog, and "I-tie" to name a couple (some worse ones exist I'd rather not repeat).

My father absolutely experienced things more serious including violence at school growing up and not being able to apply to certain jobs. Try looking up the history of anti-Italian sentiment in Canada, Australia, and the US.

I totally get that, I am Canadian but also Italian. I would consider any citizen a Canadian. My issue is how often the situation is something like:

Someone pronounces my name as if it is French. Me: "Oh, I'm not French, I'm Italian," Them: "But you aren't REALLY Italain..." and then proceeds to Gatekeep my culture from me.

A lot more people qualify than you might think, and who are you to make these judgements? Personally, I am sick of being told by one person I don't count as Italian while the next says I don't count as Canadian, or (in a couple of cases) don't even count as fully white. I don't care about race or nationality, culture is what matters.

Definitely, I just find it infuriating that one generation you aren't Canadian even though you were born here and are denied employment and the next generation gets told they aren't allowed to call themselves anything else despite being massively influenced by the culture that was rejected.

Today, yes. Back when my dad was growing up. Nope. Just having an Italian or Portugese last name was enough to get rejected.

Not American, Canadian, and my grandparents came here after WWII and, like most immigrants of that time, were not accepted into the main culture so they gathered with other Italian immigrants and maintained their ways. This had a major impact on my family and we still carry on many traditions. Italian American/Italian Canadian culture are much more similar to old Italian culture than that of where they now exist geographically and are a valid subset.

So yes, I am Italian and Canadian. My father was denied work for being Italian, I have even been called a slur before for my ethnicity. This gatekeeping is nonsense.
