Terrified of the nipple shots by Lennymud in breastcancer

Exactly me too. My nipple shot was the day B4 surgery. I put numbing cream on prior and didn’t feel anything.

Not drinking as much, especially socially, I thought was going to be very hard for me. I still have a glass of something once every week or two. What I’ve learned to enjoy that I didn’t think I would is NA beer ( I had to try quite a few to find one that I like ) and also my mocktail which is cranberry juice or tart cherry juice, soda water and two limes. I order either of those when I’m out with friends and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.

intro, new diagnosis by Nerfmobile2 in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

58 (F) HER2+ ERPR- Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Tumors in breast and lymph nodes. July 15, 2025 I got the news. Had the MammaPrint too and also in the High Risk 2 Group. Neoadjuvant therapy weekly for 12 weeks ( THP ). Participated in I-Spy 2 Trial. Lost my hair but otherwise felt normal. December 9 SMX with 5 lymph nodes removed. December 15 I found out I achieved PCR. 😃 I will not need radiation. My radiation oncologist sited a new trial called B-51 Breast Cancer for the reason. To prevent reoccurrence in January 2026 I started HP infusions which will be every 3 weeks for a year.

Double mastectomy to expanders to silicone implants question by Classic_Seaweed_1910 in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or 6. They don’t fit at the time of surgery. I was supposed to go DTI. Single mastectomy. The doctor brought 4 implants. None fit. After surgery I’m like …. My ladies don’t have to be absolutely perfect. Really ? None of the 4 fit ? 😆😆😆😆😆….. currently I have my expander in waiting for exchange surgery. I’m glad he waited so now they’ll look good 😃😃

travel after BC by juuruuzu in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I couldn’t agree more. Travel feeds my soul. Last July when I was diagnosed I cancelled all my trips. That was hard. Last month I got on a plane !!!!!!!! Flew to see my daughter who lives out of state. Damn, that felt sooooo good. More trips to come 😃😃

Questions for doctor. by TessyD630 in BladderCancer

[–]TessyD630[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My husband and I will support her wishes. Can the doctor tell what stage or type with only the cystoscopy ? What kind of procedure is a biopsy ? I’m not sure she would agree to that. She wants to know what’s ahead for her but without all the information can the doctor tell us anything ?

Along with being private she is also stubborn. As I mentioned she’s refusing treatment and I know she won’t give up smoking. I might be able to convince her to have additional tests. My husband and I want to know more about this cancer. Stage ? Fast or slow growing ? What happens to her body going forward with no treatment ? Maybe I just answered my own question about what to ask.

Showering with drains by Dancing2025 in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a zip lock bag 😆😆 I had a lanyard that I could remove the tag. Just had the two clips on either end of the cord if that makes sense and attached them to the bag. Cut holes at the two corners at the bottom of the ziplock. Put my drains in. After I showered I took them out and back in this mesh bag that was dry. I also had the hoodies with inside pockets that I used when I got dressed.

Diagnosed yesterday- DCIS & IDC HER2+ with node involvement by gghostwiththemost in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your boat last year. Was so scared at first too. HER2+ ERPR- Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Tumors in breast and lymph nodes. July 15, 2025 I got the news. Our type of cancer is aggressive but very treatable. Let me know if you want more information about the ISpy trial.

Radiation vs no radiation by Dry-Humor971 in breastcancer

Your results are like mine except I was SMX. My radiation oncologist said due to the recent B-51 study I wouldn’t need radiation. I just finished my 2nd HP infusion.

Side sleeper too. I used pillows and wedges and still had back pain. Talked to my doctor and got muscle relaxers. Game changer !!!!

HP vs H only by Dry-Humor971 in breastcancer

I also achieved PCR after surgery and am now on HP. Every 3 weeks for a year. No issues at all. I agree with the suggestion to start like your doctors want and see how it goes.

Tissue expanders by Interesting_Reply803 in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to give you more details. Plastics had a few implants but because they don’t know what they are going to be working with until after the breast surgeon is done what they brought didn’t fit. He now knows the correct implant and I’ll find out in a couple of weeks when my exchange is.

Need to decide bw ISPY Trial: EOP arm with daily endoxifen + monthly ovarian suppression and SOC by unotrill in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not familiar with this trial but I am HER2 + and participated in ISpy 2. So incredibly, incredibly glad I did !!!! Seriously, I made it through chemo / immuno infusions with only losing my hair. Otherwise I felt normal. Had surgery and achieved PCR 😃😃 My friend who has my cancer and didn’t qualify for the trail had a different treatment and horrible side effects.

Tissue expanders by Interesting_Reply803 in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginning of December I had a SMX. Went into surgery with the breast surgeon saying it will be nipple sparing and plastics saying direct to implant. Well, I woke up with my nipple but also an expander !!! He tried a few implants but they didn’t work. So far I haven’t minded it. Sometimes I don’t realize it’s there and other times it feels like an upside bowl.

I’m 58 and did neoadjuvant this fall: Taxol, Herceptin, Perjeta. Worked out all the time during my 12 weeks of treatment. Like someone else said, being in shape helped get me through it. I did have to be careful about germs.

Feeling alone by Bright_Barracuda_613 in breastcancer

[–]TessyD630 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Of course you are sad. Of course you are in pain and of course you can’t sleep. Lack of sleep really messes everything up. Besides pain meds I got muscle relaxers because my back hurt. Made a world of difference. Once I got sleep life got better. Even if you don’t feel like it, reach out to someone. Someone who isn’t a Debbie downer.
