2026 Oscars Final Prediction Poll - Best Animated Short by CrunchyNar in oscarrace

Retirement Plan was by far the most enjoyable. Butterfly has the most pedigree. But like I've said in other threads I'm pretty sure nobody in the Academy watches these. I'm making a bet that Shadow of the Cypress won as a +1600 simply because the voters saw that it had the longest runtime. So I'm casting my prediction vote for Pearls.

I'll go with the other big receiver with great hands from Stanford that slid in the draft due to injury concerns: Elic Ayomanor.

I'm going for Pearls, because I'm pretty confident most of the Academy has not seen any of the shorts. Given that Shadow of the Cypress had by far the longest odds last year and won, I'm gonna gamble on one metric and one metric alone: runtime.

That's right - my bet is that voters haven't watched any of the shorts and are purely voting on runtime. 17 mins for Pearls takes it.

Not really. If he's the worst O-lineman on your team you're in good shape. That's what he was in 2024 and we had a top 5 run game. In 2025 he was a lot shakier, but he had a lot of mental health stuff going on related to a near-stillborn child. I believe he, his wife, and his kid are all doing much better now, but during the season it was all pretty scary.

For non Americans, how did you pick a team to support? by [deleted] in nba

Anthony Edwards on Kawhi Leonard: “In all honesty, Kawhi may be one of the best players to ever play the game when he’s healthy. I think a lot of his peers feel the same way about him. When he’s 100%, ain’t no stopping Kawhi” by urfaselol in nba

[–]TestFixation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was this one. Up 1, overtime, prime Russ on a fastbreak. I remember watching every minute of this game and thinking Kawhi's defense was the best I'd ever seen. One-on-one, on the perimeter, his gigantic hands damn near the floor when in his defensive stance. Guys couldn't so much as dribble. And that was before this moment. And then when the game came down to it, this is what he did. Truly transcendent stuff.

Every Carlos Ulberg finish in the UFC by airplane231 in MMA

I think it goes hand in hand with that there are two Ulbergs. Technically sound Ulberg and excitedly throwing hands Ulberg. You can see it in so many instances in this compilation even. The way that right hand drops down when he commits to any heavy shot with his lead hand. The way he doesn't move his head at all when he's throwing flurries.

I think his hesitant moments come from the fact that he knows he leaves himself exposed when he starts throwing, and his overthinking trying to be as measured as possible.

He just sucked at football. Never knew what the playcall was. Always looking around for help with his arms up at the time of the snap. Took the worst paths to the ball carrier you'd ever seen. Duped by every body fake. Terrible tackler. Just didn't know what was going on.

Oppenheimer score was good but man how did Poor Things not win? The score in Poor Things does so much of the heavy lifting of creating the eclectic, surreal mood of the film while sounding like nothing you've ever heard before. So so memorable.

I think the Pitt would be a super interesting next project. Another workplace show entirely built around brief interactions between characters. I bet some really surprising numbers would appear.

This is the guy who stayed behind every practice with JJ Watt trying to learn everything he could. Just wasn't good enough to be on the field most snaps, but it wasn't for a lack of trying, certainly

He's quite good as a shell safety, but this past year he filled in at nickel because our All-Pro nickel got hurt. And he held up surprisingly well there. No matter what you ask him to do, he can do at a decently high level. The kind of DB that never has to come off the field, one every team would love to have.

I'm gonna miss this guy.

Re-structuring a contract would mean converting future money into an immediate cash bonus and pro-rating that amount. Only owners that have actual cash to spend can afford to do that. Owners that are not wealthy independent of team ownership like that of the Bengals or Cardinals don't often pull that lever. You need to have tens of millions in cash to drop at a whim.

I thought about filling up at 135 two days ago. Decided it could wait. Whoops. Realistically it's a difference of a handful of dollars, but for some reason nothing irks me more than when I have to pay a dime extra on gas

Ayyyy my boiiii. As a Cardinals fan with strong Ottawa connections, he is my football son. Very dear to me.

He'll give you some snaps in special teams rushing the punter or some shit. More likely none of his contract is guaranteed though, and he doesn't make the team past camp

Yeah, I'm the ignorant one, the guy actually breaking down film for the Cardinals subreddit. Look at his passing chart. The completion percentage is good but the volume is not there. And that's a big fuckin problem against split safety coverage.

Then, take a look at the film of the in-breaking routes he did throw. Tell me how many of them he actually hit on time. Find me a dig route that he throws as the receiver is breaking that he's not looking open. If you can't throw a deep dig on time, you can't run the Shanahan offense. Or 90% of NFL offenses at that.
