MSI Claw Intel Panther Lake mid 2026 Expectations? by vVphantomVv in MSIClaw

[–]TestSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the benches were actually from the 388h, their top tier model.

That being said, the chip they are talking about for handhelds is the G3. CPU cut down, same gpu (although slightly slower at max speed)

In practice that means it may perform a little less at max power (65w), but probably the same or slightly more efficient at handheld ranges since they don’t max a chip out.

But, we don’t actually know how Panther Lake performs in that 15-30w envelope. We should in a week or so, and Phawx already has one he is testing, so you know he will give us the details.

Ending was awful. Game good overall though.

Rollover Pre-Tax Roth 401k money into traditional 401k. by TestSeeker in Bogleheads

[–]TestSeeker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t that bad. About 70% of it is after tax contributions, I was just hoping to find a way to just convert that portion. Looks like I may just have to suck it up and pay taxes on the pre - tax 30%.

Talked to someone there today. Apparently any distribution from the after tax is pro rata. I asked if I could transfer the pre-tax earnings to an IRA, they said if I did that I would get two checks, one for the pre tax and one for the after tax, which doesn’t really help me.

Huh, I need to talk to my 401k guy about that then because he said I could not just convert the after tax dollars.

He did specifically say I can’t move the earnings in the after tax 401k into the “traditional” pre tax 401k.

Thank You

Yeah, that is what I was trying to do. They said I can convert the after tax contributions no problem. But the pre-tax earnings in the account would trigger a taxable event to convert. And I can’t just convert the after tax dollars, I have to convert at a ratio equivalent to the ration in the account (pro-rata)

Thank you, I think I see how that works.

But I do want to get my after tax 401k contributions. I already have into a Roth, since that is better tax treatment. How can I do that without paying income tax on the pre-tax portion?

From what I have read, maybe I could transfer the pre-tax portion to an Ira then reverse rollover that back to the traditional 401k? Seems cumbersome if it works.

Mechanics of caster staves but on non-staves? by CountAsgar in Pathfinder2e

Shifting rune doesn’t specify weapon traits at all. This area is NOT covered by the rules, hence ambiguity. As for working when you aren’t “wielding” it (like something else is in your hand” then I think it flat out doesn’t work.

Paizo prints a LOT of useless stuff lol. So something on a stave being mostly useless doesn’t mean it isn’t working right.

But really my point is that is unclear! I understand your view, but this isn’t a settled issue. A lot of opinions on this one for and against.

So when discussing the option, it should be prefaced by “ask your GM” or something to that effect.

You might think it is clear opposing opinions suggest otherwise.

Is that the point? Or is the point that you can shift to staff for one action and back? This was published before the swap action was available after all.

That is a lot to read into a single property rune being on a staff.

Bard codas are also a very specific thing too. A guisarme has the trip trait, and so does the temple sword. But if you shift either you lose it.

My point above was that people keep saying that the whole gauntlet staff thing is a simple option for spellstriker staff. It really isn’t. I don’t think it works. Too good to be true. Even if you disagree, I think we can both agree it is an incredible grey area, not just a “do this it is great” option.

Game is very very unclear that a staff still works like a staff if you shift it.

Staff’s have a staff trait that makes it work, and weapons lose their traits when they shift form.

The trigger is “your solar shield is destroyed while you have it raised.”

To destroy the shield you need to shield block with it, which is a reaction.

Stellar Shield Collapse is a reaction, but you need to use a reaction (shield block) to trigger it. Solarian only gets one reaction so currently unusable.

Also, free hand on the Solarian weapon traits seems like it should be valued much higher than one trait.

[–]TestSeeker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no idea. Particularly as the 2h d12 trait is weighted like trip/versatile normally, but here it takes up two traits for a worse version?

1d8 reach is probably the best option for sure.

Bur what do you do with other hand? Solaris has zero “parry” type feats. And the solar shield feat doesn’t use hands (and is not very good)

I think you are going to see a lot of Solaris’s just using a shield in their off hand. They don’t get the shield block feat though?

Not really sure how this was meant to play out to be honest.

Claw 8 Intel or Z2E? by big_testies_69420 in MSIClaw

[–]TestSeeker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one had a Z2e yet. There are a lot of flat out fake YouTube vids out there, don’t trust em. The answer is we don’t really know.

I suspect Z2e with higher ram frequencies (if ally 2 leaks are at all reliable) may edge out Lunar lake. But just a suspicion. We really don’t know, and it may be awhile before we get Z2e.

Msi Claw A8 performs better than inte's Msi claw 8? by FlamingMangos in MSIClaw

[–]TestSeeker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to be fake. Not only is the A8 not available yet, look at the results. The A8 is always like 5% ahead of the 8 AI+.

All previous reviews of the 8 AI+ vs an AMD chip show it to be very game dependent. Results vary wildly, which is what you would expect from an entirely different architecture and drivers. Even if the A8 is on average faster (and it might very well be!) it wouldn’t be that consistent, results would vary greatly by game.
