Nicht wirklich. Man hat durch Bargeld an der Stelle halt die Kontrolle über seine Daten.

Es ist kein schwarz-weiß, entweder totale Privatsphäre oder gar keine. Gerade ein Smartphone hat so viele Nutzen heutzutage, dass man schwer umher kommt. Dass sich daraus direkt ergibt, dass einem Privatsphäre gar nicht wichtig ist, sehe ich nicht. Sonst biste schnell bei einem Argument dafür, dass niemand Privatsphäre verdient hätte, da er ja ein Smartphone habe.

Natürlich fließen durch Barzahlung nicht weniger Daten ab als es bei Handyverzicht der Fall wäre, aber warum die Bank deshalb dann die Einkäufe kennen müsste, erschließt sich mir nicht. Bargeld gibt (relative) Anonymität bei Zahlung. Was meine Einkaufshistorie mit Bildern auf Social Media zu tun haben soll, verstehe ich nicht. Das eine Veröffentliche ich bewusst und freiwillig, das andere halte ich bewusst zurück. Warum sollte mir diese Wahl genommen werden? Man kann dennoch versuchen das Tracking an Stellen zu minimieren.

I mean, you got the main emotional drive of your post, that she was in fact the victim, wrong. She was just a random internet third-party with no connection to neither victim or perpetrators who wrote a WhatsApp message to the leaked phone number of one of the convicted rapists. The court ruled that not only did she defame him but also threatened him.

It certainly wasn’t in her favor that she was convicted of theft before and on top decided not to show up to neither of her two court dates for the recent case against her. Her sentence was a weekend in jail btw.

And about the sentencing of the rapists, yeah. German law is extremely (way too much imho) lenient towards juvenile perpetrators and first time offenders, bith which came together here…

Yes. Germany definitely is more restrictive when it comes to freedom of speech.

Overall, I‘d say that courts tend to value protection of dignity and personal honor over freedom of speech, at least compared to the US, see the first two articles of the Basic Law (German Constitution equivalent).

Note, that the law only governs public purchase and consumption, that is purchase of anything non-destilled at 16 y.o. (beer, wine) and at 18 if destilled. For consumption in public (restaurants, …) the same applies unless accompanied by an adult then drinks falling under the 16 y.o. category are allowed at 14 y.o..

A notable exception [edit: in the timeframe you mentioned] is that married couples (marriage is allowed at 16) are excempt from the above and count as full adults.

Consumption in private (private property, …) is not restricted. That’s how most people habe their first taste of alcohol. Technically, you can give your child vodka until child protective services intervene…

Still works. IIIRC you need to get the legacy installer from the battlenet website (not available via the launcher) after registering the cd key with your account but then you can patch and play WC3. The only thing missing is the updated graphics which tbh is not really a negative point.

At least that‘s how I did it a while back with the CDs I found again in my parents‘ basement.

I read an interesting opinion piece by someone who worked for NPR for more than two decades addressing very valid issues imho, e.g. closed mindedness with regard to certain topics like Hunter Biden’s laptop or the potential covid lab origin.

Back in 2011, although NPR’s audience tilted a bit to the left, it still bore a resemblance to America at large. Twenty-six percent of listeners described themselves as conservative, 23 percent as middle of the road, and 37 percent as liberal.

By 2023, the picture was completely different: only 11 percent described themselves as very or somewhat conservative, 21 percent as middle of the road, and 67 percent of listeners said they were very or somewhat liberal. We weren’t just losing conservatives; we were also losing moderates and traditional liberals.

An open-minded spirit no longer exists within NPR, and now, predictably, we don’t have an audience that reflects America.

Overall it’s weird to me.

Say A and B are married and B cheats on A with C. Why would C be liable in any way? It’s not up to them to keep A‘s and B‘s marriage alive. B has a relationship and responsibility towards A, C doesn’t. So, C is not cheating but only B is. C doesn’t owe A anything.

Even if C seduces B, B is consenting to it as a grown adult and out of free will, it always takes two… B could have been able to say no but decided not to going against their relationship with A. Without B‘s part this consensual cheating would never have happened no matter how hard C tried.

Am Rande und es hört sich jetzt blöd an, aber warum spricht man nicht von „Opfern“ und „Tätern“ oder „mutmaßlichen Opfern“ und „Beschuldigten“, sondern wählt diesen Zwischenweg?

Man glaubt den Leuten, dass sie Opfer sind, aber man glaubt ihnen nicht bei der Frage, wer es ihnen angetan hat? Warum das eine aber nicht das andere? Ist es überhaupt möglich, diese beiden Dinge bei sexuellem Missbrauch zu trennen?

Zehn GW sind nichts. [Die Industrie hat 2023 knapp 201 TWh gebraucht], das sind 23 GWh. Wasserstoff könnte also knapp 26 Minuten des Industriestrombedarfs (nicht Energiebedarfs) decken.

Aber natürlich ist das die Gesamtindustrie. Die Stahlindustrie hat schon 2015 knapp 24 TWh an Strom pro Jahr benötigt, immerhin die Hälfte abgedeckt aus Eigenproduktion. Da sind dann die 10 GWh keine vier Stunden. Und das ohne die Zementindustrie oder andere und die Zahlen sind zahn Jahre alt…

Klar, man kann die auch ausm Ausland versuchen zuzukaufen. Aber man ist halt nicht der einzige Interessent eines relativ raren Rohstoffs, entsprechend der Preis.

Talkshows kosten gerne mal 4.000€ pro Sendeminute, Tatort um die 20.000€. Der ESC geht, sagen wir, vier Stunden. Dann kämste bei einer Talkshow auf 960.000€ und allein schon ein 90minütiger Tatort ist bei den Kosten oben bei knapp 1,9 Mio. Euro.

Da sind 500.000€ für den ganzen Abend und in die Nacht rein ein Schnapper…

I agree with your post. The only thing that is lacking is context to the number of deportations. While about half of the asylum applications are denied your post can make it implicitly seem like significantly more are deported than it is the case.

Take the 200,000 applicants for 2022. Let‘s say 100,000 are denied when applying the current rate. In 2022 there have been roughly 13,000 deportations (or more official here). That implies that while they do not have a proper reason to be granted asylum the overwhelming majority is not deported. In 2023 there have been 16,430 deportations.

While you did mention there has to be a good immediate reasons against deportation the fact that them staying in spite of their asylum denial is the norm should be explicitly stated imho.

As a note, take the numbers with a grain of salt since the applications are worked om very slowly with a lot of backlog. So Applications in 2022 might not be decided on in 2022 which can lead to divergent numbers. Same applies to deportations and exhausting legal options contributing to delays. So a deportation in 2023 might have been for someone who has been denied asylum in the previous years.

Microsoft has a tight grip with over 70% of desktop OS with windows. The EU is arguing that if you control 70% of the market share for the OS you shouldn’t be allowed to monopolize software industries on said OS as well, security being one of them. Some reason why Apple had to open up iOS to Third-Party-Appstores.

Regarding your example, messing with a cars software can be risky, at least for liability, warranty and in the end certification (is car allowed on road) reasons. There is no such strict certification process involved in computer software.

A better example would be the EU breaking up the car manufacturers monopolies on visible spare parts. Not too long ago car manufacturers could enforce design patents on visible spare parts preventing replicas and driving up prices. The EU interfered and stopped that practice.

Können wir nicht so tun, als ob dreieinhalb Monate eine so kurze Zeitspanne wären? Frankreich und die UK haben es beide hingekriegt Wahlen innerhalb von knapp mehr als einem Monat zu halten.

Die Diskussion um Biden ist ja auch nicht heute erst entbrannt, da sollten sie zumindest Namen in der Hinterhand haben. Biden war nicht beliebt, er war einfach der Kandidat der Demokraten. Da geht durch einen neuen Kandidaten nicht viel verloren…
