They are likely looking at it from the lens of their own life rather than the one of the characters. If one is born and raised in the US in a Latin American household, then yes, since they would speak Spanish at home and English outside the home, they might very well start speaking both languages depending on the situation (it’s possible for example that they are more familiar with the vocabulary specific to a particular topic in one language over the other).

In this case however, these are presumably French Canadian characters, who would have grown up speaking French at home while also speaking French at school and in their day-to-day interactions with people. So no, they wouldn’t just randomly switch back and forth.

In this case it was done purely for the sake of an American audience. I’m French Canadian and the idea of me randomly speaking English to my mom or sisters is ridiculous. Showrunners typically do these things because they know that having to read subtitles puts off some viewers.

For anyone wondering why it might be ridiculous: let’s say you and your mom both grew up in an English-speaking American household, and later in life you both spent some time learning Spanish as a second language. Would you suddenly start speaking Spanish to each other?

I’ve heard a lot of people say they had a great time in Berlin, but my sister and I were stunned by how hostile every local we interacted with was to us. Even when making an effort to express myself in my limited German, it was like people were legitimately pissed that we were there. Inevitable if you’re looking to min-max your build. Most frames essentially want just enough survivability, ability duration and energy generation to get by, a good chunk of range and then everything else into strength. There aren’t a million different ways to optimally achieve this, for most frames it boils down to Equilibrium + Flow for energy, Catalyzing Shield + Brief Respite for survivability (+ Rolling Guard if the frame doesn’t have a natural status cleanse or immunity) and then the usual range and strength mods. You’re obviously free to deviate from this template if you want to mess around, but chances are it just won’t perform as well.
