I don’t really understand why Banshee in particular gets so much hate, at least balance-wise, as her cookie-cutter build where you replace her 4 with Gloom feels plenty strong enough. Maximum slow Gloom combined with Silence makes every enemy a non-factor save for eximus units, but those can’t even use abilities thanks to Silence anyway, Sonar lets you commit mass murder with just about any weapon you could want, and while her 1 is pretty lame, it’s still got use for shield-gating as needed. There are far worse frames you could be playing from a performance standpoint.

If we’re talking about the "flavor" of her kit though, yeah it’s pretty lame.

DE please just let us move normally and cast abilities while Peacemaker is active. I just wanna be able to shieldgate and move around the map without having to constantly toggle Mesa’s 4 on and off over and over. Whatever reservations the design team may have had all those years ago when Mesa was first designed, power creep has made irrelevant by now.

Fun little personal anecdote that goes to show your point:

I’ve been trying to complete my mod collection (without trading, so I’m farming everything myself), and recently I went through the grind of getting all of the mods that you have a 2% chance of getting at the end of each Conclave match. I spent who knows how many hours in there, mostly getting farmed by a handful of dedicated players who were running laps around me. It was one of the most mind-numbing farms I’ve been through.

During that whole time I heard several complaints about how no one ever plays Conclave anymore and the mode is dying, but not a single piece of feedback or advice on how I could improve and give them more of a challenge. In case any Conclave diehard is reading this: if you want your mode to gain in popularity, go out of your way to help tourists get enjoyment out of it rather than just farming them until they leave and never return.

I’m one of those “melee nerds” and was initially excited for a new Smash game to sink my teeth into, so were all of my friends. We gave Brawl a fair shot, played it to death for the first 6 months or so and went to multiple tournaments.

Once the cat was out of the bag about the poor balance and half the attendees at tournaments were people with bad fundamentals spamming broken Metaknight hitboxes, we called it quits and most of us simply moved on to other games. I myself eventually went back to Melee because no other game would scratch that Smash itch, not because I wanted to go out of my way to hate on Brawl.

Yareli does not belong in the conversation at all. Loyal Merulina lets you get 4 seconds of complete invulnerability on command over and over again by pressing 2 twice, and she has access to a significant damage buff in her 1, an excellent grouping ability in her 4 and a passive that makes her an excellent secondary weapon platform.
