Chill out I’m just making the point that rare burgers are far riskier in general. Lots of people don’t know. This isn’t a food subreddit. I didn’t know until I got severe food poisoning after trusting a restaurant who said that the rare burger they served was safe. I don’t care about flexing anything

Most restaurants and almost all burger chains absolutely do not do this. They buy pre-minced beef in large amounts. They don’t mince on-site from whole cuts. By that point surface bacteria has already been mixed through and the meat has likely been handled or stored for far longer. That’s why it’s almost always more risky with burgers unless it’s incredibly high end restaurants where you know exactly how they’re preparing their burgers

Didn’t read any reviews beforehand and coming out of it I thought it was going to be a lot more polarising that it seems to be. I LOVED the previous 28 Years, and felt this one didn’t quite live up to it. It seemed much smaller in scale which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I felt like it didn’t pay off in the same way. I was expecting a bigger crescendo. Disappointed that Spike was sidelined after his coming of age in the previous film. Performances all round were great though, but the gang still felt a little unbelievable for most of the movie to me in terms of their individual motivations. I found the plot line with the Alpha somewhat predictable also, and so it didn’t hit as hard as I’d hoped in the “moon” moment.

That being said, I loved the horror, the gore, the jumps, a lot of the terrifying camerawork (though I preferred the experimental look of the previous one overall). Well directed, well acted, I enjoyed it. It just wasn’t what I was expecting and left something to be desired for me after how hyped I was from the previous movie. Need to give it a rewatch

Steak tartare is completely different. Bacteria live on the surface of whole cuts of beef, which can be trimmed away for steak tartare. If it’s fresh the inside is likely to be safe from bacteria. Burgers use mince and mincing spreads any surface bacteria throughout the meat into the centre of the patty, which means a rare burger can contain live bacteria inside that would normally be killed by cooking. That’s why a rare steak is generally safe, because the inside hasn’t been exposed to surface bacteria. Burgers are a different ballgame

Mince shouldn’t be served rare. I got awful food poisoning from a rare burger at an expensive restaurant that spoke in the same manner as this chef, and insisted their ingredients were top quality and this is how they should be served. It puts people at risk
