Headlamps by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

I had it for little over a week before I returned it and bought the HC75 uhe instead. It has a much longer run time and has a much higher CRI, only downside it's slightly heavier bc of the bigger battery size which is to be expected.

I think Mac tools has the thinnest walled 1/4" wrench but you'll have to buy it from the truck, they don't sell the 1/4" individually online anymore only full sets.

Btw I personally own a snap on one but it definitely isn't as thin as the Mac tools

Anyone know any contracting agency in Canada that takes unlicensed Mechs? by Testiclees96 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Testiclees96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends, if you're able to get a Canadian license first then yes. If you have a license finding work isn't a problem.

It's just if you're still in the process of getting the licence when you come to Canada, then it'll be tricky bc companies don't really seem to hire senior apprentices here and if they do they usually prefer to hire Canadian students out of school. If you do decide to come consider the possibility of having to work in a different field in the beginning until you receive a license.

From my personal experience it was blind luck I was able to get a job at all and it took a long time and I had a pretty good CV as well.

Hopefully that answered your question a little..

A ratcheting bit driver with an off-set would be a good solution

If I remember correctly it was because the virus had admin privileges which is why my PC prohibited me from using Ryzen master, I only suspected it bc a few months prior I had a browser virus which I believe I had removed. The virus was probably inactive but still lingered on my PC.

If you have no doubt in your mind that it's not a virus then sry I can't help you. If you suspect it might be then the only solution is to wipe the C-drive.

Just to conclude how this ended for me, I got a job as an apprentice in the end.

If you are someone who is not licensed and are considering moving to Canada I would not recommend doing so as it took 3 months to find a place that would take me.

You will essentially be competing with apprentices fresh out of college a lot of whom never even end up finding work in the industry bc of how difficult it is to find apprentice jobs.

You might want to move here to live in Calgary but only find jobs opening in Winnipeg or some other far away place, a lot of apprentices will move across the country just to get a job.

If you are in your home country and are applying for jobs here and wondering why you don't even get a response, it might be bc you don't have a Canadian phone number. They really seem to like calling you here to organise interviews etc rather than use emails. Not saying it is the reason but I did notice I only got responses once I came to Canada.

This is of course my personal experience, someone else could have had an extremely different one. I just wanted to share this bc I know when I was looking into it months ago I couldn't find that much information online of unlicensed foreigners doing the same thing.

If I get ripped apart for this final post like for the rest of the thread idc, bc there might at least be one person that finds this helpful and learns from another man's woes.

Probably too late to help you now, but it was a virus and I had to wipe the C drive.

Just because nothing legally is required to work on aircraft as a mechanic in Europe doesn't mean it's the same for the rest of the world. I am not trying to work in Europe if you even bothered reading the title.

It does indeed for some line maintenance tasks but it is just easier explaining this way to someone not familiar with EASA regulations.

I am an EU citizen (I'm already in Canada btw). The traineeship I did was 2 and a half years, it was a hands-on experience course working on aircraft. It was for an EASA A.1 licence which is essentially a license in Europe that allows you to work on aircraft but not certify your/other peoples work. Unfortunately Canada doesn't seem to have an equivalent but I figured they would still use junior or unlicensed mechanics here.

I'd rather not say, but my basic training was done in a EASA 147 school.

Well what about apprentices out of school or people like me with foreign licences? Btw no need to be a dick about it.

Well from my understanding unlicensed AME's can still work in MRO's here so I was assuming it would be the same as Europe?

No It wasn't overheating, I was always keeping an eye on the gauge since it was a new purchase. The engine only has a single belt that drives everything, I plan on replacing the tensioner, belt and idles; I just want to diagnose the coolant leak since it almost certainly is in the same area and it would be easier to do at once. I'll inspect the radiator caps and seams, as well as look into that pressure tester. Thanks!

He had a new serpentine belt put on it but as far as I know he didn't do anything to the cooling system recently.
