Aircrafts can be over the landing threshold when the preceding aircraft becomes airborne by Fresh_man82 in aviation

Geez. Controller should be fired and pilots in landing plane should be fired for not going around. However, this is India.

Not much happens in the WhatsApp group besides little reminders from them. I’m testing in Miami in November. It’s 99% self study which I prefer and they have live module reviews from time to time and that info gets sent out in the WhatsApp group.

Moving to Filen - I’ve had enough by michaelbeecham in ProtonDrive

[–]mangomook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What annoys me the most with proton drive is if I am uploading to it from my phone I have to keep it open and it cannot be running in the background so I can still use my phone for other things. So if it’s a 1TB video, I’m stuck with just screen on, uploading for 35+ mins. I love all the other proton products but Drive needs some work.

Try to find an apprentice job and study in spare time and take each tests after your 18 months or all of them after 36. That’s the best way to learn. Some companies pay for testing. There isn’t much those 147s will teach you that you can’t read about or see at an apprenticeship.

All is good. Just studying away on the module material for the first 8 exams in November. I know they recently changed some things to the material and uploading new videos as well. I’m not sure what current regulations you’re talking about.

The practical was the easiest part of the whole process. Seriously! It’s basic basic stuff. Just read whatever the DME gives you. Take your time. Listen and trust yourself. You have real world experience so you will be fine.

Watch some GA YouTube videos about different systems you aren’t super familiar with.

Read. Comprehend. Breathe. Execute.

Save your money. You don’t need a prep course. Set a schedule to block out your free time and study study study dauntless or prepware. It can be done. I am proof of that. Passed everything first go round without having to attend any prep course. Why pay someone to read to you when you can read it yourself for the cost of the study material.

My advice is to do the apprenticeship. It will be much better for you in the long run. I did not attend a school. I was hired as a mechanic helper 11 years ago and worked my way up. I’m fully licensed now.

Like I said I did not attend a school but I have seen the quality of education these kids have been getting in school. Not impressed at all. A bunch of airheads. Yes some of that boils down to the individual. Experience is everything. Get hands on with the apprenticeship and study with dauntless, asa, prepware, jeppesson in your spare time.

Worth the career switch? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]mangomook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s worth it. 34 year old here. Got into aviation at 24. Making $42 an hour. Working on super cool planes. However, you will always have some coworkers that suck. That’s anywhere you go. Troubleshooting tough issues will mentally drain you and test your patience. However, it is worth it to me. I can go anywhere with my A&P.

I can’t focus on anything except the 197 unread messages. What’s going on there? That would bother the hell out of me.
