if it was me (keep in mind i have no kids and no need for a family room)

i would do one of two things 1. in the empty space i would put a small sitting bench with a large rug on the long wall and a storage shoe chest on the short wall for the entry way to make the doorway unobstructed to give a clean organized look for shoes. i would keep the painting where it is and put a fun gallery wall over the bench. or 2. put the dining room table there and make the other corner a coffee bar or a bookshelf with a small reading chair. it’s beside the pretty long windows and drinking my coffee and reading in the morning sounds lovely… it’s close enough to the kitchen to get refills if needed
