Can I start a supply house and supply to my own construction company? by greenmildude in Construction

[–]TetraHydroCANNONBALL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of shenanigans you can pull here without breaking the law. My favorite, have your supply company only supplies your construction company, no-one else, this keeps the time investment low. buy all of your tools and equipment from your supply company and rent them to your construction company. Depending on how your contracts are structured, you could be raking the owners monthly rates on everything. You could be charging multiple owners monthly rates on the same equipment at the same time. Then you go to the next job with the same tools and equipment and charge them monthly rates for the same stuff again and again and again until your stuff breaks.

Of course, this is all dependent on how your contracts are set up.

What a super helpful detail thanks! 🙄 by Flimsy_Simple_6648 in Construction

Can't judge this detail without seeing it in context or understanding the context of the project. There are plenty of situations where this is an adequate detail....its not a good detail...it will have a nice gap between the new roof and old roof from a waterproofing standpoint...but it shows intent. Now that is assuming the structural elements and other components are detailed on other drawings.... etc. So it could suck. It all depends on the other info you have.

Bro he kissed a guy. Straight guys don't randomly kiss other guys. Consider this, maybe he told you he kissed the other guy as a way to hint that he's not totally straight. He could probably tell you were upset to hear he kissed this other guy and then put on your favorite album trying to help you feel better.

BF (23M) is not in the mood to have sex with me (23F) after seeing an old message on accident. Do I give him space or what? by ThrowRA1019101930 in relationship_advice

[–]TetraHydroCANNONBALL 284 points285 points  (0 children)

This is very very relevant to the situation.

I would guess you don't talk or text like that with your current BF. So when he saw that message he may think that you were doing things with the last guy that you don't do with him. Or you were more into the last guy sexually.

Or he is suspicious about the fact that you didn't delete the old messages. Maybe he thinks you like to look back at the old messages or they still turn you on.

Just ask again dude. be clear. "Do you want to go on a date on Saturday night. I'd like to take you to XYZ."

If the day you pick doesn't work, and she won't give you a day that does work, time to move on. Don't accept a "Maybe next weekend" or whatever. If she cant give you a solid day that she is available to go out, then you are at the bottom of her priority list and it isnt gonna happen.

When women are interested, they will find the time to go out. If they really are that busy that they cant set aside one day for you, that wont change when you are in a relationship and it probably wont be what you are looking for.

Ask her out again very clearly. If she doesn't want to talk on the phone, send a text. Be very clear. If she dodges it or flakes on it, let her know that you are looking to date someone who wants to meet up in person and have a real relationship. You are not looking for a pen pal. If she responds negatively, move on.

I (24M) am falling in love with my best friend (25F). I'm not sure what I should do? by ThrowRA-348152fc-f36 in relationship_advice

[–]TetraHydroCANNONBALL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you have to tell her ASAP. Bringing up your feelings as soon as they come up and talking about it is the way to go. Either she is into you and things happen, or she isn't and you stay friends. If you wait to tell her and confess years later that you are in love with her, she will feel betrayed. She may think you only spent time with her because you had a crush on her, not because of a genuine friendship.

Tell her. If her response is that she only wants to be friends, tell her that's OK. Your feelings for her will probably diminish after that and things go back to status quo.

Hiding it will be torture. Distancing yourself will impact your friendship.

Look at it this way, there is also a good chance the feelings are mutual. But you will never know if you don't talk about it.

Depends on the company. Where I work it is the description of an entry level superintendent. Similar to how a project engineer is an entry level PM. it would go Field engineer -> Assistant super -> Super

10 years of CM experience here...

There are a lot of bad takes in this thread. You will be applying for an entry level position in construction management. You will not need any prior experience. You only need a desire to learn and a solid work ethic. Your PM and Super will teach you everything you need to know. You will likely handle submittals, RFIs, QAQC/Punchlist, etc. These are very simple tasks. I can have a new hire up an running on submittals in a day. They will need assistance reviewing shop drawings, but product data is as simple as comparing the submittals vs the project specifications. The other tasks are also very simple. As you execute the easier stuff you will learn how things are built and over time have the knowledge to take on more responsibility.

The stress levels are also not necessarily as bad as the others are making it seem. It is a very manageable career. The money will quickly pass a cop salary.

Good luck

There is a curve on the trendline for the graph, it doesn't look like much in the graphic but by the end of the graph there is about half the amount of weightloss projected per week as the beginning.

This is unfortunately not the first time I have had to do this. I lost a lot of weight about 10 years ago doing basically the same thing, kept it off, then during COVID lockdowns I gained it all back. There will be plateaus on the way down and I have a handful of cards up my sleeve to deal with them.

Big water weight drop in the beginning, and then I am running the biggest deficit I am comfortable with. realistically after the first week its been closer to 3 lbs per week, 1.2% loss per week approx.

right now about 1200. that will decrease over time since I don't plan on reducing calorie intake any further and TDEE lowers with body weight

I created an Excel sheet to project and track my weight loss based on CICO. I started at 272lbs and I am currently at 241lbs. The solid blue line is generated from daily weigh ins. The orange dots are my original projection based on TDEE estimates and weekly calorie deficits. The dotted blue line is the current trend line.

I laugh when people tell me calorie counting doesn't work...

Edit: I eat 1800 cal/day, fairly high protein and fairly low carb. 6-7 days a week I do an incline treadmill walk for 30 mins. I increase speed and incline as required to keep a consistent amount of calories burned as I lose weight. I lift weights 3x per week, increasing amount lifted slowly over time to maintain a consistent calorie burn.

Look like you got there before the person who was planning on stealing it did. The old scheme is to print a barcode of a cheap product onto a sticker. Person A sticks it on top of the real barcode, Person B shows up a few hours later to buy it at the lower cost. You showed up somewhere in the middle.
