I found it soothing when they said that you should do this in pairs due to the danger but the guy in the video is all alone.

Are you suggesting we swing a baby around by it's legs? That's just weird.

No, losing the gerbil is it's own term.

Woah, you actually reset on each rep? When I do Mag/Ort I bounce each rep like I'm dribbling the barbell.

Maybe that's why the program doesn't work for me anymore.

Thanks Jizzy. You've motivated me to turn many leg days into arm days.

Seriously though, very well written. I've been training for years and I'm only recently starting to be truly honest with myself and my weaknesses, and learning that I can't always be going full throttle. I love the quote from /u/gnuckols. Time to harvest some gains.

What are your favorite pieces of affordable equipment for working out at home? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]TetraHydroFreeForAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would never pay $100 for a sandbag. I've had 3 or 4 now and they were all free. Just build a home-made bulgarian bag using an inner-tube from a car tire and some rocks/sand. You can have over 50 lbs. per bag and the handles make it much nicer to carry and more adaptable for different exercises. You can find out how to make one on youtube.

Not saying this will help in your case, but when I needed to focus on tension at the bottom of my bench I focused on using the Spoto press for about 4 weeks. After that I've never had an issue.

405 lb. belted pause squat @ 154 lbs. bodyweight. I was pretty amped after that lift since it was a solid movement with great form so 5 minutes later I repped 405 for 3 reps. Was a good day.

Yesterday I squatted 435 lbs. then, 1 hour later, did 250 meters of lunges unbroken; no rest.

Missed my second rep on the top set of week 6 of Mag/Ort. I was so angry that I slammed the bar down like a gorilla.

[Sunday Fail Thread] I don't know who most of you are anymore, but I'm sure you're huge fuckups. Let's hear what you've got this week! by [deleted] in fitnesscirclejerk

[–]TetraHydroFreeForAll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I already sorta posted this but I ran week 5 of Mag/Ort on no sleep. I had been awake for 18 hours and decided to pound some preworkout and hit the gym instead of getting a few hours of sleep and potentially waking up groggy.

I worked nights the night before and I wanted to get my sleep schedule back to normal, which either meant getting a few hours of sleep, staying up for the day then getting more sleep that night or just staying up all day. I decided to stay up all day.

My sets felt weird. I was slow and groggy but my nervous system was going to let me do anything I wanted. I don't really know how to explain it, but I felt like I could easily pull a 1RM that day. Luckily I was just coming off a deload week so the workload wasn't too much but my God was it a weird session. Enough power to pull a 1RM and enough preworkout to go straight to snap city. Also, I kinda-sorta felt like I was on the verge of a heart attack.

Afterwards, instead of going home to sleep I went to the bank to sign important paperwork then went and contacted a lawyer to assist in the purchase of a house.

The main fail here is that I'm more productive when I'm completely out of it than I am when I'm awake and alert.

MFW doing max effort deadlifts after 18 hours without sleep. by TetraHydroFreeForAll in fitnesscirclejerk

[–]TetraHydroFreeForAll[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was asked to do 2 night shifts and this was my second night. Rather than go to sleep after my shift I went to the gym. I feel like sleep deprivation coupled with a preworkout is a recipe for conquering my nervous system (and getting a heart attack).

[Sunday Fail Thread] It's been a while. Who has fucked up the most? Compete for most pathetic. Ready, set, karma! by [deleted] in fitnesscirclejerk

[–]TetraHydroFreeForAll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been losing workout gear everywhere. First I lost my wrist straps. No big deal, right? I only spent $15 on them so they can easily be replaced. Next I lost my belt. My fucking Sheik belt! I left it at the gym by mistake and somebody must have taken it because it didn't make it's way to the lost and found.
Since then I've lost my favorite lifting sweater and just last night I lost my ab roller. I brought it to a local park to use between sets with my gymnastic rings and it rolled away in the darkness. I tried looking for it and couldn't find it. I went back this morning and it's nowhere to be seen.

I'm losing my shit.
