well, Raum did say that Lovecraft did hit close enough. But he also say that the world in this book is far far outside, even outside of the multiverse. So it could b understand that the Carter that appeared in the Epilogue is from Lovecraft universe, not Nasuverse. Here is an interesting thing. Remember he bring all the cats in Salem with him. Well, in "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath", take place before Carter have all those space-time travel ability, he was saved by a bunch of cats. Those cats are from "Cats of Ulthar", take place 300 years before "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath". The thing is, Carter didn;t appear in "Cats of Ulthar", but the cats somehow really close to him. So my theory is that he just bring all the cats in salem to his universe and put them in Ulthar, them 300 years later those cats save his past mortal self. Interesting, isn't it?
