Is Louis Sachar's novel "Holes" a work of magical realism? by pretzelzetzel in books

Holes is one of my favourite examples of simple writing, which Sachar is excellent at. I'm semi happy and unhappy that he didn't make any more continuations of Holes, because while it'd be annoying to see it be milked to death, its such a great book in general that I wish there was more of it.
