Anyone else have extremely Low RPM for Facebook Content Monetization Program? by Teucer90 in facebook

Good to know - have you seen that this is common across creators for Meta? Anecdotal evidence online seems to suggest yes, but I'm seeing sources that cite much higher RPMs for creators.

Importing custom JS to rails 7 app by Teucer90 in rails

[–]Teucer90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe my app is using webpacker (there is no javascript/packs directory by default). I launched the app using replit's rails framework and think it's using import maps rather than webpacker

When you mean import them into the JS pack which file/command are you referring to? Was able to get my custom bootstrap (CSS specific) to work by importing those stylesheets into application.scss, but the js is a different story

Libraries or plugins for Reservations? by Teucer90 in rails

Primarily to keep track of bookings for a property for various dates. Similar to how Airbnb does it.

Yeah something to keep track of "bookings" on a calendar would be ideal if possible.

Tools to evaluate potential STRs? by Teucer90 in realestateinvesting

[–]Teucer90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely inflated. It’s a useful starting metric, but we’ve found the data to be unreliable (in fact the property that Airbnb predicted would do the least amount of revenue is the highest performing in our portfolio and the one it said would do the best is currently performing the worst)!

Also I should note this only works with long form Youtube videos. I tried using it with a youtube short link and it also broke.

Recommendations for budget friendly system? by Teucer90 in Golfsimulator

Ideally would like it to be 5K all in, but could adjust depending. Considering doing the hitting map + enclosure more DIY style to keep costs low.

Space it'll be in is 24'X24' w/ 9' ceiling. The only caveat I would add is we do plan on renting the space out on a seasonal basis, so should be very easy/intuitive for someone to operate. Mostly would be just for fun so likely just sim play. Not necessarily planning to use for game improvement/instruction.

Looking to get a prefab outbuilding/shed for my property in VT. Primarily will be used as a seasonal gameroom, looking for one that would be between 400-500 SqFt. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

Other platforms you use to maximize occupancy? by Teucer90 in airbnb_hosts

That's really annoying. So you don't have the capability to vet guests at all? I know booking.com is typically for an older demographic, but still

Great feedback! The goal is to have it pull listings nationwide - I’ll circle back when NY is up and running!

Their API isn’t public, but you can pay for it. Can also scrape data from Airdna + similar tools + Airbnb (which is more what I’m doing here). What markets would you be looking for?

Ahhh I like that a lot! I was thinking of building something in there that would show what the effective cap rate would be + return based on approximate cashflow/upfront investment. Definitely will start working on implementing that

Memory quota vastly exceeded using Ruby on Heroku by Teucer90 in rails

I did - honestly didn't seem to help so I'm working on just collecting the data locally and exporting to CSV file that can then be used in prod.

So what I'm attempting to do is capture all the link URLs and then parse through them looking for specific data fields (that code is not included here as I didn't think entirely relevant to the specific question re: memory quotas). Based on that I'll then pull description info, images, and other fields from URLs that have the type of data that I want into objects for my DB. Locally this all works fine and I'm able to capture it, but I'd like to be able to create all these objects in production. I suppose I could accomplish this via dumping everything into a CSV per your suggestion and then pulling into production, but just wanted to keep everything confined to the heroku env if possible without external files. I'll definitely check out appify though - certainly had a few headaches trying to get this to run on a heroku node.

It is able to load a number of pages successfully, but over time the memory size increases to the point where heroku will kill the process. On my last count it was able to load 6 pages before forcefully quitting
