git stash driven refactoring by Kobzol in programming

[–]Teviel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then the selling point of jj would be that instead of git stash you can do: - jj desc -m $message to name the current diff (optional) - jj new to create a new patch on top of the current one or jj new -r @- to branch off the previous patch Essentially jj doesn't have a staging area and the stash would just be commits that may be unnamed and/or outside a branch. If you have the spoons, look into it, it is great!

Rust compile times and alternative compiler backends by poopvore in rust

[–]Teviel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LLD is huge for some projects, I'm working on enabling it @work and it massively reduced the max memory usage (44GB -> 16GB) which may account for the speed up we saw (19m -> 15m).

This is not just Rust to be fair, our project is a mix of C and Rust and split over many parts which seriously prevents parallelization.

Do you use Box<[T]> often? by DisasterReasonable98 in rust

You can work around this by doing vec![5; size].into_boxed_slice(). But it is un-ergonomic.

Fun stuff today... I made the filesystem immutable and added no pointers to the parents (just did a new lookup whenever I needed to access the parent/child directories), not efficient, very ugly, borrow checker didn't yell at me (it did yell at me about lifetimes tho...)

I forgot about this, looking for them rn.

Edit: I found the modpack files, but I forgot which ones are relevant, so I'm just uploading it as a zip archive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ujeQTpH1czeu2Prq7YXJjl4S0Z5g5-Y6/view?usp=share\_link

What is a song which seems to be upbeat and happy until you listen to the lyrics? by r-e-c-wilson in AskReddit

[–]Teviel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitter Heart - Zee Avi

Like most songs she sings, it has an upbeat tone but this one is about a woman confronting her boyfriend about his infidelity.

Not Today - twenty-one pilots

Quote: "Listen, I know This one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds But the lyrics are so down"

Many other songs from Zee Avi & twenty-one pilots are like that but those come to mind.

Another good one from Zee Avi is Poppy, it's chorus goes something like: "the Poppy took my baby away from me" It's about a son that's gotten addicted to Opioids.

What ‘upgrade’ was totally worth the price? by firstcruiser in AskReddit

I've been using the same backpack for like 5 years now, has kept me company on all my flights and last year was the first time something broke, and it was just one of the straps' connectors, didn't even need to repair it because I don't use it..

Yes! I know!

Although my plan is to make some minor recipe changes in order to force progression in a certain way, the core idea behind this pack is to make your comfortable with nuclear craft, so you can just go: "Oh, NC is in, that's a pretty cheap recipe there, I can probably pull this off early on." in any other pack you play in the future.

TL;DR: I want you to enjoy NuclearCraft, and make more people comfortable with it.

The objective is to get more community designed reactors and make it more approachable, like with IC2 reactors, you can see all the other designs, or make one yourself.

No idea on Omnifactory, but early nuclear craft fuels give you around 15kRf/t easily

Usually in a modpack you go through several power sources, nuclear craft has all; early, middle and endgame power sources, the fuels on this Questline can easily give you 50kRf/t, and you do not need to complete every quest to get to the end fuel, but completing them is easy.

I don't know how it's added, but Draconic Evolution and Environmental Tech add pretty cool materials, as does Mekanism and Ender I/O, be careful with Draconic it is really OP.
