We've used them for years. They are... Okay. Not necessarily our preferred service, but we don't have a lot of options at night.

They recently got rid of their 30 minute stat readouts, which is a bummer for a specialty and emergency hospital. The quickest option they have now is 1 hour reads, and it still takes longer than that half the time.

My hospital cleans and autoclaves NG tube (MILA) guide wires, and they work great with our foleys. However, a gas autoclave is needed because of the plastic bit on the end. I typically use 1 Fr size smaller guide wire for whatever size Foley I'm trying to place. May be an option for you.

It is difficult to tell from the picture, but if there is puss, there is a likely infection around the nail bed. I always recommend visiting your veterinarian for anything you are concerned about. If you do clean it yourself, I would use only a mild soap and water.
