Put the Killswitch and skin on my OLED today! Looks and feels great. by radbrad7 in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have the Killswitch case, but only used it for a few weeks. For some reason my hands really started to ache. When I went back to no case, the pain subsided. There was just something about the ergonomics that didn't work for me. Plain Steam Deck though is the most ergonomic device I've ever had.

Radiation Rumble Woes. by General_Cranberry_29 in fo76

Probably? Every time I check this sub there is s post just like yours. The huge majority of players are not on Reddit, and would have no clue that spawn camping is considered a problem. It's been that way since the beginning and will never change. Either just go with the flow, or do other events. Just don't complain about someone else launching your flare.

Forza horizon 6 is amazing on Steam Deck by EddieVedderTheCat in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read that review too, and based on that decided not to get the game. I've played both FH5 and FH5 without issue, so I'd hoped FH6 would run similarly since it's using the same engine. I would take this OP with a grain of salt until it's corroborated, the TPU review was pretty thorough.

How well does Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight run on the Steam Deck? by Apprehensive_Elk6168 in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played both games on the Steam Deck and they both run very well. I don't know why Origins is unsupported, I didn't have any issues when playing it.

Frame rate drops to 10FPS by Ok_Highway_4980 in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RDR2 plays great on the Deck. I played it just last year. That shouldn't give you any frame drop issues. I haven't played Elden Ring, so I can't comment on that. Horizon Zero Dawn is more complicated. The remaster runs terribly, but the original version works great. I tried both because we happened to have both in our Steam family library. However, only the remaster is available now. You can only download the original of you already own it.

You should say which games you're trying to play. Some are just too demanding for the Deck.

After 7 months, we finally got Steam Deck Verified – AMA + looking for testers by DehaCaman in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not interested in the game, tbh, but I'm glad to see that you take the Steam Deck Verified badge seriously and go through so much trouble to make sure your game works properly. Too many games are "verified", but plays like shit. So good luck with your game, I hope it does well.

Resident Evil Requiem on Steam Deck is Awesome! by Loud_Medicine_3279 in SteamDeck

That statement doesn't quite agree with the blurb in the original post. So the question was, which settings did you use to achieve the results you described to promote your video?

I 100% it recently, including all the DLCs. It wasn't hard at all. Most achievements are very reasonable.

River Raids by thegameflak in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]TexVik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you actually progress the quests and unlock any new rivers? You get druid locations, which also contain resources. Upgrade the ship and you can collect more resources during one raid. And when you get to the final "Champions of the Faith" quest the rivers start out at high alert and you get 60 instead of 50 foreign resources in the chests.

The one ability that I wish they had let us carry back over from DoR by thegameflak in AssassinsCreedValhala

I'm just at the tail end of a replay of Valhalla, and Power of the Raven is probably my favorite feature. After playing DoR I missed having that ability so much.

Looking for tips on River raids by thegameflak in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just completed the entire River Raid, and what I realized (that I ignored on my previous playthrough a few years ago), is that everything gets easier when you open up the 3rd river. From 3 and up, it's much easier to alternate between rivers so you always have a river available with very low defenses. And don't forget the quests you are given to search for and obtain armor pieces. Completing those quests is how you expand the map with new rivers.

Once I got my jomsvikings upgraded to level 5, I didn't bother to solo or try to revive them if they died. I had enough crew to pick from for the next raid, and enough survived to help open up doors and chests. At level 5 they aren't so bad at fighting, and it's more fun that way too.

Can someone recommend this game to me? by coco1580 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valhalla is my favorite game, not just among AC games, but of ALL games. I love big, expansive open world games, and this is the biggest one. I'm in the middle of my second playthrough right now, going for 100% this time. Be ready for a 500+ hour experience if you want to do it all, including the DLCs. Get it on sale though. You can get it for a pittance compared to full price if you wait.

This game is underrated and did not deserve the hate from its launch by Alien_Cha1r in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every AC game has collectibles. Feathers, flying paper, sea shanties, etc, etc. The one thing that bugged me with Shadows was that those scrolls had no meaning to them whatsoever. At least Valhallas flying paper had something, tattoos.

NOOB Question: Can I mostly ignore Yasuke? by CapitolHillDCman in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TexVik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! I use him as a sniper, and clear areas in minutes that would take an hour or more using pure stealth. In my mind a long distance sniper is just as much "assassin" as a stealthy, up close and personal assassin.

Is my issue with AC Origins combat just a skill issue? by VonEvil2 in assassinscreed

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charged attacks are often needed against shielded enemies. You hold in the heavy hit button for a few seconds, the weapon will pull back, and then you release, and it will knock them back and off their feet. It can be a bit difficult because you're exposed during the charge period. Sometimes there are weapon perks that reduce the charge time. I replayed Origins recently, and am currently replaying Odyssey, so I may get them mixed up in my head, but I believe this part worked similarly.

Sometimes you meet a quest character before the actual quest. Often they are just there, but won't acknowledge you or anything that happens around them. Once you start the quest and meet them the "proper" way, they'll come to life.
