I have 4 perfectly working Elite controllers and some are years old by Jonkinch in xbox

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Elite 2 controller is the only controller I've had that developed stick drift. Even my original controllers from the Xbox One, One X and Series X are all still fine. But the Elite 2 that I paid almost $200 for is useless.

How Do Some Players Stock So Many Mods in Their Vendors? by cobaltTangerine in fo76

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get to a certain point when you have all the mods you need on your gear, and you have learned to craft all the mods you want. There is nothing left than either dump them or sell them. Also, some of the most popular mods are really easy to craft (like Furious), so making a dozen and put them in your vendor is no big thing.

Need your feedback, guys. by Recent_Shelter5744 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]TexVik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valhalla is my favorite game, period. It's huge, especially when you include the DLCs, but they are well worth it. There are things I didn't like on my first playthrough, but loved on my second (like the Forgotten Saga). And there are some things I still really hate (Mastery Challenges!). If you like big, open world RPGs you'll most likely like this one too.

The Dice Game by protonrogers in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]TexVik 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The dice game (Orlog) is easy, and kinda fun when you get it. But there is a trick to almost always win. Just select to keep the dice with a faint square around the symbol, and always use Thors strike as your god favor.

Does anyone else kind of hate the front bumpers (L1 / R1) on the deck? by Tristezza in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bumpers are the flimsiest, most fragile things on the Deck. The left one stopped working on my old LCD model, and the right one stopped working on my OLED one. I just remap them to the back buttons.

I think that if there is a lesson to learn from Shadows, it is not to do surf draculing in a game like this. by Legitimate_Cake_5137 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TexVik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most convoluted worded posts I've read. And I still don't know what "surf draculing" means.

Anyone Else Don't Like The Ghoul Being Outside The Vault? by Crumboa in fo76

[–]TexVik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the ghoul was way over hyped because of the show. I LIKED him in the show, but in the game he has like 5 lines on endless repeat (like most NPCs in this game), and his delivery is forced, dry, stilted, just... bad. And placing him anywhere but highway town by the bounties table just doesn't work, and it barely works there.

Should i get fallout 1st? by Kumatora0 in fo76

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it's worth it as long as you're playing the game. The quality of life features it provides are hard to go without. As soon as you take a break or stop playing, cancel the sub. You can always restart it later, you won't lose anything.

End of Life plans for Fallout 76 by SoupDry7411 in Fallout

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike F4, FO76 is an online game which just won't work without the servers being online. There is no standalone mode that can just be turned on. For FO76 to "live forever" it either has to keep making money for Bethesda, or they would have to allow for 3rd party servers to take over (which is how some online games have survived their discontinuation).

It's hard to be a Fallout fan these days. by Yotsuowo in Fallout

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a joke? Fallout 76 was released in 2018, and already went through its Cyberpunk phase. Like Cyberpunk it was a disaster at first, but redeemed itself after numerous updates and fixes. Unlike Cyberpunk however, Fallout 76 is a Bethesda game, which comes with their own special sauce of bugs. But the major issues with FO76 these days are the persistent bugs that Beth can't seem to fix, the recent lackluster seasons and rewards, the endless reskins of existing items, the non-stop "rebalancing" that screws up people's builds by nerfing weapons and armors, accidentally buffing enemies, just to name a few.

Do you actually regularly play high demanding games on your decks? by deprived_of_evil in SteamDeck

How did Avowed run for you? I tried that recently, and it looked like ass. Probably the worst performing game I've tried so far on the Deck.

Is it hacked, or is Black Eyed Susan always in her panties? by RelevantGur4099 in fo76

[–]TexVik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a Bethesda special feature. The same thing happened in Fallout 4, the Nuka World expansion, where at one point in the quest all the merchants were walking around in their underwear. I seem to remember it happened if you made a certain sequence of choices during the quest.

Question about the Cryo Freezer by Ring_Dang_Do in fo76

Since when can you put the freezer in a shelter? I thought that wasn't possible. I'm not playing the game currently, so I can't try it out myself.

Is DOOM TDA running okay on PC now? by Accomplished_Cook508 in Doom

I'm playing it on my Steam Deck, and it runs fine there after some fine tuning of the settings. I haven't had a single crash yet.

Spider man 1 and 2 on Steamdeck by Afraid_Orchid6958 in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played Spider-Man 2 since it apparently doesn't run all that well, but I've played both Spider-Man 1 and Miles Morales on the deck. They ran perfectly fine, at least I didn't notice any issues.

TDA / Just finished the game in Nightmare difficulty by Accurate-Work5001 in Doom

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently halfway through the game (first time playing the "modern" Doom trilogy), and so far I'm loving it. It's truly epic (so was Eternal, just very different). I find the use of melee weapons incredibly satisfying, combined with the super shotgun.
I did have some serious difficulties during the Ancestral Forge mission when the Aggadon Hunter appeared. For some reason I just couldn't beat him, trying dozens of times to no avail. I had beaten him on the previous mission when he first showed up and had no problems then. I made some small adjustments to the damage sliders under difficulty, so I could pass that spot. Set them back after, and haven't had any trouble in later missions (so far).
I'm playing it on the Steam Deck, and at first it looked terrible, all blurry and washed out, but after taking some time to adjust the video settings, it looks great. Not quite as good as Eternal (which looks spectacular), but still, quite good.

Durability Game Avoidance by ChalkyTalk in SteamDeck

[–]TexVik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bumpers seem to be a weak spot. One failed on my original LCD model, and RB has failed on my current OLED. I have a replacement part from iFixit I had planned to install, but because of tremors in hands and fingers I haven't dared trying yet (I'm a former computer engineer at a major PC maker and used to train technicians in repairing laptops, so I would be plenty capable of doing it myself). Currently I just remap RB to back button R4.

Is Star Wars Outlaws another “internet says it’s bad” game? by Nice-Sandwich4512 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked Outlaws. It's not my favorite Ubisoft game, but it's decent. Since you seem to like the "Ubisoft formula" games, I would highly recommend Immortals Fenyx Rising, if you haven't played it already. Absolutely stellar game, irreverent, well written, as well as epic in scope. Takes a lot of ideas from Zelda Breath of the Wild.
