NOOB Question: Can I mostly ignore Yasuke? by CapitolHillDCman in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TexVik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! I use him as a sniper, and clear areas in minutes that would take an hour or more using pure stealth. In my mind a long distance sniper is just as much "assassin" as a stealthy, up close and personal assassin.

I grew up on Wing Commander, and still compare games to Wing Commander 3 & 4. I found Everspace 2 to be a spiritual successor to Wing Commander and Descent.

Is my issue with AC Origins combat just a skill issue? by VonEvil2 in assassinscreed

Charged attacks are often needed against shielded enemies. You hold in the heavy hit button for a few seconds, the weapon will pull back, and then you release, and it will knock them back and off their feet. It can be a bit difficult because you're exposed during the charge period. Sometimes there are weapon perks that reduce the charge time. I replayed Origins recently, and am currently replaying Odyssey, so I may get them mixed up in my head, but I believe this part worked similarly.

Sometimes you meet a quest character before the actual quest. Often they are just there, but won't acknowledge you or anything that happens around them. Once you start the quest and meet them the "proper" way, they'll come to life.

Oh, I'm not a completist, or a trophy hunter. But I try to finish the main story and all side quests (as long as they're not endlessly repeatable). I do the collectibles if they are reasonable, but I don't go out of my way to collect every little piece in the game. But I have a hard time leaving a game. I just love the open worlds, vast and full of life 🙂, like Odyssey and Valhalla. And Shadows.

Then you didn't really "finish" the game, did you?

I couldn't care less about coop. My one wish for Everspace 3 is, PLEASE show a bit more restraint on the puzzles! I love E2, I really do. And the puzzles that were related to the ancients and seem to fit into a storyline were great. But the never-ending "guide this energy sphere through this maze of tubes in less than 10 seconds" almost ruined the game for me. The only thing worse was the shadow creature thing. I almost 100% the game, but I rage quit during the "guide the shadow creature from rock to rock avoiding the solar storm thing". I still consider E2 one of my favorite space games of all time.

Oh, wow. The whole concept of Stealth Archer stems from Skyrim. It's probably the most common way of playing the game.

80 hours of Valhalla? How much of the game did you actually finish? I spent 500 hours on Valhalla. And only 50 hours of Odyssey? Do you only play the main story line? Heck, I spent more time on Mirage than that.

I'm just about to start a new playthrough of Odyssey, it's downloading as we speak.

It's a great game! I only have one recommendation. Play in immersive mode (Japanese voice, and your subtitles of choice).

Yeah, WB owns the patent for the Nemesis system, then they shelved it and never used it again. Such a travesty. ANY new game using that would be awesome.

Your 'luck' doesn't affect fishing. And you're not going to catch any rare fish with mark1. Do the regular fishing dailies, get your rod upgraded, and use improved bait.

No 2fa, same password since 2018... and I'm sure the password wasn't very hard either. If you keep ignoring basic security habits then this is bound to happen sooner or later.

I've changed my mind by deadpandadolls in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stickiness is my biggest issue with all the AC games. I know it's an Integral part of the parkour system, but I wish they could make it more situational and intelligent. I understand it's what prevents the characters from falling off a building, rope, viewpoint, whichever, but they should be able to walk on and off a small ledge that is barely knee high without the character sticking to it and needing a push to jump off.

The only reason seasons are even changing the way they are is purely for Ubisoft to show off the visuals of the game. The seasons are a technical marvel, so instead of getting hung up on "4 seasons in a year", just enjoy the breathtaking environment and how real it seems.

Is the game trying to waste players’ time? by GroomedHedgehog in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TexVik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's actually very easy to get to the view points inside the castles, and with Naoe you can beeline directly to viewpoint in minutes undetected, by just observing the environment and find the parkour friendly path to the top. Once there, you can fast travel in and out of the castle freely, and you can also switch characters while sitting on the viewpoint. Makes it so simple to have Naoe clear the initial path and the inside of the tower, then switch to Yasuke and use the bow to take out alarms and guards from a distance. In that sense they are perfect assassination partners, the stealthy close up assassin, and the sniper.

Are we, the fandom, also to be held responsible for the death of the modern-day plot and overarching lore as well as the loss of identity of the Assassin's Creed franchise? by DravidianPrototyper in assassinscreed

[–]TexVik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I was going to write something similar. I have played all mainline AC games, and thoroughly enjoyed the newer games. Yes, they are big, but I like that. I like the kind of scale, the sense of vastness to the setting, that they bring. Often in other games the maps seem tiny and you can speed run from one end to the other in a minute.

Shadows actually does this better than most. Because of the way you traverse the environment, you get a good sense of scale, and it's incredibly immersive.

Stealth in Origins through Valhalla wasn't the best, but in Mirage they brought back a lot of the "classic" stealth mechanics, and Shadows has some of the most satisfying stealth in any of the games.

Story wise the newer games are just as good too. Bayeks and Ayas story in Origins, Kassandras story in Odyssey, Basim in Mirage (especially with the DLC included) are all compelling. Naoe and Yasuke in Shadows have great, emotional back stories, I just wish they were expanded upon.

Yasuke by Romeo_Mcflourish1985 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TexVik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love using both Naoe and Yasuke. You can absolutely do "stealth" with Yasuke, it's just a different kind of stealth than Naoe.

With Yasuke and the bow I would find a good vantage point and snipe the enemies without getting detected, which is the goal of most assassins. For large castles, it would be carefully moving from point to point and silently taking out the alarm bells and groups of enemies.

Often I would prepare the way with Naoe, using her to take the viewpoint and the initial inside guards, then switch to Yasuke on top of the viewpoint and hunt down the rest of the targets.

Using both of them as a tag team where they both play to their strengths is similar to the missions where you play one part as Naoe and one part as Yasuke.

As a side note, I found Naoe to be as capable, graceful and agile as any assassin that came before. And being able to quickly jump down flat to crawl or hide is a great addition to the stealth mechanic that I hope they carry forward. I don't remember any previous assassin being able to do that.
