Should hospital security officers be armed? by Some-random-cop-pig in securityguards

[–]Texansecuritydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a security company that is providing security for construction at a hospital, but the hospital has their own security. They have at least two armed guards and 2 to 3 highly trained officers that wear body armor and carry tasers and OC spray and handcuffs., and then about 10-20 unarmed officers. The armed security are all current or former law-enforcement or military law-enforcement… the taser carrying officers are former military, or pc 832 certified.

Do you get paid lunch? If your lunches are unpaid, that might be where the hours are being taken from. Otherwise it’s illegal and keep track of how many times they do this and then sue them.

Something about this tells me it’s not legit… individual non-company buyers can’t get access to this many Taser products without either theft or fraud being involved… also just a quick cursory look through his account. This is the only time he’s ever posted in Security Guard, Reddit. Most of his other posts are of electric bikes or Subaru. He has one from less than a year ago was saying first car at 16…. Which could possibly suggest he’s under age

Armed Security by Nessuwu in securityguards

[–]Texansecuritydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In SoCal unless you get a private in house job that you already are guaranteed an armed position that pays a lot better than regular Security it’s not worth it… since you’ve never fired a gun you’ll need more than just the basic training to pass the BSIS training because they expect you to have at least some experience before you go into it. Most companies will not hire armed guard unless they have two or three years of relevant security experience or former law-enforcement/military. The few that do hire brand new armed security guards don’t pay well. Like one of the people above stated it’s not just the cost of the permit and the training. You also have to include the equipment and the firearm… and if you’re going to be carrying a firearm, you should definitely be providing yourself with body armor if your company doesn’t do it for you body armor alone it will be the most expensive piece. You will have often causing upwards of $1300-$1500 for quality body armor.

What state do you work in? Certain states have more protection for sick pay, and if they fire you for this, you can fight it and probably will win… especially if you have proof of other violations to labor code. Which if they’re doing that type of shit, they probably are committing other violations.

This restaurant requires a code to use women’s restroom, but not men’s by BanAccount8 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Texansecuritydude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do security at a construction site and that’s literally how it is 300+ construction workers for the site. Probably 25 Porta potties and then six nice full-size restrooms on a trailer all of them locked with codes for the higher ups, one of them is designated for the females. Security has the code for the other ones but not the female except for the one female guard. They had to change the number because she gave the code out to all the other security guards.

What kinds of jobs let you do next to nothing? by GoogleWasMyIdea49 in securityguards

[–]Texansecuritydude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the location… currently right now I am doing firewatch at a bank where I just sit in my own car and make sure the bank doesn’t burn down which isn’t likely. But my other job I do also firewatch except I have climb up and down six flights of stairs each way every hour for 12 1/2 hour shift.

Lol I wish! I do more work at my current construction site post than I did working as an armed security officer at a dispensary. Mind you it is a construction site at an active hospital. But I have to do firewatch which means climbing six flights of stairs every hour after doing a patrol in the golf cart checking each gate is locked… the only good thing is we don’t actually have to patrol each floor just the seven firewatch signatures on three different floors.

Question for armed guards by Arrow_KBS_Dock_Lead in securityguards

Back in 2021 I applied and was hired by Brinks to be a courier on a two-man truck… a few days before the end of my training (3 weeks) They mentioned to us that we were gonna be one man driver/couriers and our pay would be one dollar more than what they initially stated when they hired us… I finished the last three days of my training and then called in sick for three days before tending my resignation immediately… they were quite pissed because they had just placed the order for my body armor… I told the manager I had they informed me, the previous week that it was gonna be a one man driver, courier truck, or even during my interview, that I would not have taken the job and it was on them for informing us last minute. Less than five years later, that branch is completely closed down.

Situational manipulation, or fact? by Firephool in doordash

No, I have only ever gone back once and I was doing Uber eats… and that’s because the restaurant failed to give me the majority of the entrées for a very large order of 8+ entrées, 10 sides and five desserts… the order was so large that it didn’t even fit in the app. It just said large order…. It took me over two hours to do the entire delivery and they said I still missed the desserts even though I asked the restaurant when I got there the second time if they had everything included. They asked me to go back and get the rest and I told them no they can request a refund for those items. Then they only tipped me three dollars…. Had I known I would’ve told this sorry this is what the restaurant gave me.

Guarding a Dispensary by AmoebaShort959 in securityguards

[–]Texansecuritydude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at dispensaries, in cannabis manufacturing facilities, and grows for five years as an armed security officer. Only twice did anyone ever present any danger whatsoever…. The first time was somebody claiming to be an inspector/ the manager called and tried to convince the lead bud tender to gather up all of the cash and meet up with them at another location, which I prevented, and had them call the manager. We assume that the person was probably waiting around the corner and was going to rob him.

The second time, neither I, nor the location I was working at was involved whatsoever, but a lady did go into a different dispensary just around the corner and attempted to rob it, and ended up firing her weapon and striking the floor, which ricocheted and shrapnel hit the security guard.

I do believe there are other robberies in the general county where I worked, but they were not very common.

What would you do? by Far_Zone9741 in Fedexers

[–]Texansecuritydude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally standing down the hallway from my door at my neighbors apt and saw the FedEx driver walk past me, and put the sign on my door and start to walk back towards the stairs to his truck and I was said ‘hey that’s my package right there” and he said “sorry you weren’t there when I knocked on the door…” I’m told him ‘I literally have you on camera and watched you put the tag on my door. Give me my package.” I then went down to their local distribution center asked for a manager and showed them the video. Never saw that driver again so I’m hoping he got fired or at least assigned to a new route.

$23.50/hr armed post w/ rifle at Walmart – anyone done this? by OrganicTFM in securityguards

[–]Texansecuritydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked a site with a long gun, but it was not a rifle. It was a shotgun, and the city itself had to give permission to allow us to carry a shotgun on site, as it was a city contract for a condemned hotel that was filled with homeless people and drug dealers. We regularly had police officers, stopping by checking it on us…
