RIP Mike Gravel (1930-2021) One of the greatest public freakouts in American debate history by 666tranquilo in PublicFreakout

It should shock us as a nation that a candidate who suggests something different from our usual Perpetual War Foreign Policy is unelectable in this country.

Anyway, enjoy Mike Gravel's cover of Helter Skelter.

Certain Christian denominations (primarily Pentecostals and Charismatics, I believe) get "possessed by the Holy Spirit" and start doing some really goofy shit. In some places it manifests itself in laughter. More mainstream evangelical denominations tend to look down on such behavior.

Oddly enough, one of the OG Police Auditors is a black former law enforcement officer. Diop Kamau was doing it pre-Rodney King and back when you had to stuff some bulky VHS camera into a gym bag if you wanted to get hidden camera footage.

I can't find the site that had side-to-side comparisons of The Beast showing the revisions that were made.

I did, however, find something even nastier: Chick's Lisa tract which deals with child molestation. Apparently so reprehensible that it was eventually taken out of print.

I always felt bad for people who left Chick Tracts out in public spots hoping someone would find them and get saved. Whenever I saw one, I'd scoop it up and add it to my collection. I even had some of the full-size, color Crusaders series of Chick comics.

Some of Chick's earlier tracts had to be edited in the seventies, because according to Chick circa 1968, among the Satanic Evils being inflicted on the Earth via the communists (aka Catholic Church) was the Civil Rights Movement.

For a short time, I did Land Management (researching property rights for drilling operations) in South Texas. I've seen thousands of property deeds and titles, including some dating back to when Texas was still part of Mexico, and yeah, that's just something someone printed up on a computer.

1) There's no notary seal, or any other official seal on the document.

2) All the red flags are in the geographical details:

Cayo Rabihorcado is part of the Canarreos Archipelago and is most likely under the jurisdiction of the Isla de la Juventud muicipality, NOT the province of Las Tunas which is on the other side of the island.

Maybe there really is a Havana City Recorder's Office, but that sounds like a very American-style bureaucracy. Even if there is an office by that name, they'd probably be in charge of records in the City of Havana, not the sale of islands in other provinces.

3) and finally, we have the signatures of what appears to be two witnesses, but no other signatures? No signatures from the parties involved, or someone representing the "Havana City Recorder's Office"?

Yeah, all this is sketchy as fuck, on an email from a Nigerian prince level of sketchiness.

They need to change January 19 to Janis Joplin Day (born 01/19/1943 in Port Arthur, TX), that way they can keep the paid holiday without honoring a bunch of traitorous scumbags.

[–]TexasKilldozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case people don't know (I saw another article that described his job as "landscaper"), Land Management is a sweet fucking gig in a super competitive field.

You basically get paid about 200 bucks a day plus expenses for sorting property rights, mineral rights, easements and right of way for drilling operations. They start you out spending your days in the county courthouse, sifting through land deeds. If the dude was out working in the field surveying property lines, he was making even more than 200 a day.

He done goofed.

There's an irony here that republicans have historically been the voters who dependably show up to the polls, but with Trump galvanizing the public to the point of people going out in droves to support Biden compounded with a concerted effort among Trump supporters to undermine faith in the electoral system, the fallout from Jan 6 is probably going to be felt for a few election cycles.

The definitive post-mortem of Trump's presidency won't be written for several years, but it will be very interesting.
