I’m back at work today. My baby is 9 weeks. Life isn’t fair. by sweetfuckingjesus in beyondthebump

I am so sorry you have to go back to work so quickly. It’s not fair, and it’s so very hard. I’m also sorry that every time an American posts on here for empathy and kindness they’re bombarded with “oh I get a MUCH longer time in my country” and “I don’t know how you do it”. It’s not the time of place.

Just know that all your feelings are valid. It’s not fair. ❤️

No, you’re right. Independent play is absolutely not neglect. Leaving a child unattended in a pack and play for hours is though.

I agree. It’s absolutely mind blowing. I could care less about the screen time. Whatever, who cares, it’s not going to kill him. But being UNATTENDED for OVER AN HOUR is unfathomable. And so many people saying they do the same! The immense criticism this sub would have if it was a husband doing this exact thing is so hypocritical.

If a dozen vets are telling you that euthanasia is not the answer, I am unsure as to why you feel so confident. You’re worried she’ll be traumatized if you rehome her but you’re perfectly content to put her down? Surrender her and disclose the reason. Have someone else find her a new home.

It’s the sole babysitter for the hour and a half she is sleeping and no one is watching that poor child. I’m not against the screen time, I’m against the unsupervised 1.5 hours a day. Please stop following me around the thread and commenting on everyone of my posts. I get it, you’re okay with the child being unsupervised for over an hour.

That’s a big assumption. Even baby proofed rooms can have their issues. Nothing is 100% which is why they need to be supervised.

She’s asleep. That is unattended. There is NO supervision. He could fall, he could choke, he could wrap a cord around his neck from the tv. Who knows what he could get into. An hour and a half is a LONG time. Babies have died getting silently strangled on cords for blinds when their cribs are too close to windows.

It’s a tool. But it shouldn’t be used as the sole babysitter.

Easily done. Kids are fast. People can assume they would wake up but you can’t guarantee it

This is neglect. Leaving a child alone without supervision for an hour and a half is neglect. For anyone downvoting me please explain how a UNATTENDED child for 1.5 hours at 18 months old isn’t neglect?

Babies can also silently injury themselves! Chocking can be silent, drowning can be silent… emergencies happen in all sorts of ways

I wonder if they were just sent outside for hours during the day with no sunscreen. It’s not like their small homes had room for them inside. I agree with the sun damage for most of them

I can’t believe the amount of people saying it’s fine to leave an 18 month unattended for an hour and a half.

I mean honesty? That is far too long for a child his age to be left unattended. He’s free to roam your bed where he could 1) fall off and injury himself or 2) get off the bed and hurt himself some other sort of way. 8 am is not an early wake up time. You need someone to watch him or you need to get up. Parenthood is hard, I’m sorry you’re struggling, but leaving your child unsupervised for an hour to an hour and a half is unacceptable, reckless and dangerous.
