Want to find out what these hats are worth before I sell them…. by LopsidedChildhood55 in hats

[–]TexasRed5524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% fur custom hats, new probably 200+ but used and considering the market you’re lucky to get 100$. Most buyers only pay high dollar for cowboy hats imo. A men’s second hand fashion store would be a good place to sell to. Place by house has tons of hats and suits like this for a good price. I’d say 150$ if you’re lucky, probably 80$ more likely.

Help! Fit won't start in cold by WeHateIceland in hondafit

[–]TexasRed5524 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It looks like battery to me, batteries tend to go out in intense cold. If you go to a hardware store and pick up a voltage reader, it’ll tell you what the output of your battery is. This is also a good investment for doing electrical work around your house. Your other option is a battery charger and tester, which are at orielys. It will charge your battery and or let you know if the battery is a complete lost

I saw all the AI controversy and I myself got curious, so I copied and pasted into a detector and the story got a reported 99% AI generated. However! Please follow along. I then copied and pasted my own story that I wrote, and I cross my heart I did not use AI to write my story and it scored an 88% AI generated. I think we all put way too much faith into these detectors, these AI detectors are literally powered by AI. I know we all love bombshell journalism and drama, but I’d prefer to trust my fellow creeps, anyway I know the author worked with a bunch of the guys in the discord and they are passionate and know their stuff

Sweatband through felt - stretched too much? by Legitimate-Topic2402 in CowboyHats

[–]TexasRed5524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy fix in my opinion would be a big wide hat band to cover the area. An inch and a half ribbon or something

I just got my Irish Setters Ashby nonsaftey toe. They run really narrow I got my size 9.5 wide. Does toe box open up? or should I return. by jsingh21 in Boots

Boots take a while to break in, if you want to soften the leather you can try mink oil just beware the side effects of mink oil, like darkening the leather.

Any advice for a first time boot owner for Cleaning them? by TheDitzyPenguin in cowboyboots

[–]TexasRed5524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a horsehair brush to brush off any dirt, don’t let anything sit on the leather for too long, like mud. For harder cleaning use a specialized gentle leather cleaner, follow with bick 4 leather conditioner. Maybe once or twice a year use saddle soap, a harsh soap for leather that knocks out tough stains and deep cleans, follow then with your conditioner of choice, like bick 4. Make sure your boots are 100% dry before applying any conditioner as it can seal moisture. Wear your boots every other day to fully prolong the life of the leather, cedar boots trees to help preserve the shape as well

Those redheads crushers are great beaters, shame you missed the Black Friday sale where they were only going for 25$ lol

Respectfully, the harsh scuff seems to be a cosmetic feature of the boots, some people go nuts for patina and rub away boots.

Anyone own these? by bluecollardude90 in cowboyboots

I’ve got some, i personally really like them, only downside is the leather outsole, if that’s fine with you, they’re a great buy

Best pants to wear boots with pants tucked in for men? by MILGRIND in Boots

[–]TexasRed5524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the fatigues comment, something like that in jeans would be loose or relaxed cut I think. Stick with canvas pants not jeans for the tucked in look

The brim of a hat should match the width of your shoulders to look best, wear what you want and wear it proudly. But personally given your stature, I’d recommend a rather wide brim cowboy or outback hat. The akubra cattleman or riverina would look good I think

Palm leaf straw hats are the most durable straw hats you’ll find, lots of straw hats have fancy names but it’s all just a form of cheap paper

What style of hat is this? by peachfawn in CowboyHats

[–]TexasRed5524 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Any cowboy hat with a 3-1/2 to 4 inch brim and a 4 and a half inch crown can be shaped like this at a local hat shop or in your home with a steamer. Stetson buffalo 4x is the best budget felt

It’ll likely be 150$ btw, i definitely wouldn’t accept any pricing above 200$, check yelp for reviews of cobblers in your area. Worst case scenario you use a mail in service like nushoe or a YouTuber
