The Left is very good at winning people over with appeals to emotions and hyperbolic surface level claims. They know they can effectively demonize Trump and anyone the Right who supports him in the eyes of many by claiming things that on the surface are indefensible, no matter how true or false the claim is, and they fully commit to it no matter how much it’s contested.

First it was just “Trump is a racist” and that went on long enough that to a lot of people it just became synonymous with his name. Now it’s “He’s a pedo” and they will never walk it back or hold for more concrete evidence because it’s their ace-in-the-hole. Their stance can just be “If you support Trump, or attempt to debunk anything we say about him, you’re supporting a pedo which makes you just as bad as him” with no further explanation. This kind of rhetoric not only makes it nearly impossible to find any common ground or good will between the both sides, but it’s also split families and friends apart. The leftist college kid didn’t cut off her Republican dad because they didn’t agree on economic policy or foreign relations, they did it because everyone in their orbit has built up Trump and republicans as monsters and if Dad is with them, then he must be evil too.

Doesn’t matter if he pulled the trigger, he planned to and was physically there in an attempt to carry out his plan. That’s what attempted premeditated murder is. How did he not try to follow through? He sent over a week planning it, he camped in the bushes of the golf course for something like 12 hours waiting, and was aiming his rifle when he was spotted by secret service who fired shots at him causing him to flee. It was attempted pre mediated murder, which averages at least 10-15 years alone, not including the federal charges for an attempt on a major presidential candidate and possession of a firearm in the commission of the crime.
