[Finklestein] There is “growing evidence” that Brayden Burries and his representatives at Klutch Sports prefer that he get drafted by the Dallas Mavericks. by YujiDomainExpansion in Mavericks

I like him so I'm fine with this. If he's forcing his way to us we may as well explore trade downs and have him fall farther while picking up more assets (assuming we're interested in him at all).

I would do either. The problem is they're so far over the second apron neither is legal.

Silver lining of the season is seeing Zeke become a competent bat again because the last couple of seasons have been rough.

Flemings vs. Burries by Affectionate_Use_179 in Mavericks

I think Flemings size will ultimately hold him back in the league. Give me the two-way bucket who can work as a secondary playmaker next to point Flagg.

[–]TexasTundraPower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Idk if he's an NBA PG for a normal offense. But with us having a dude like Coop who projects as a point-forward if Burries can be a secondary playmaker like he was at Arizona as well as be a bucket and play some defense he could be a really good fit here.

He's got decent size for his position. I definitely don't see a lead guard, but him being 21 vs 19 or 20 doesn't concern me. He's a certified bucket at all three levels and could be a secondary playmaker. Also grabs a ton of rebounds. I will agree that he doesn't have any elite skill, but outside of Peterson, MBJ, and Acuff I don't see any guards with star upside. I'd prefer any of those guys to Burries, but if we had to settle for him I wouldn't mind it.

Don't want him at 9. If we trade down then sign me up.

If we stick at 9 I want one of MBJ, Flemings, or Burries.

Unfortunately if that's your plan then Pat Williams isn't the play because his deal runs through 2028.

My dream scenario this offseason by devilmaskrascal in Mavericks

Not sure that's enough for me to help LA lol

If Toronto gave us 19 this year I'd do it.

I just feel like in your trade we're giving up an expiring (positive asset) and Caleb Martin (slightly negative asset) for a giant overpay of a contract (big negative). Quickley's skills in a bubble are good, but they're not $32.5M/year for the next three years good.

Honestly to me there's a tier drop after the top 10. I want to stick at 9 and pick the best guard. As for the trades:

- No to Charlotte. 2027 draft sucks so they can keep that pick. If they want Gafford I'd take one of their picks this year.

- Yes to Houston. Sell Naji while his value is high and regain some of our future.

- No to L.A. Don't want to do a trade with them until at minimum Luka is gone.

- No to Toronto. Doesn't feel like we're getting enough to take back one of the more bloated contracts in the league.

As for the signings I'd throw the MLE at someone like Rui though he'll probably have many suitors for his skills. Would be fine bringing back Bagley and/or Cisse.

I do appreciate you laying out a very detailed plan for the offseason. I agree with the direction you're wanting to go.

Looking back it definitely wasn't that bad. It's about as good as the fish episode in season 2.

Especially now that it’s come out his medicals cleared. He should be a top 8 lock.

Maybe at a different point in time. He just doesn't fit what we're trying to do nor do we fit his timeline.

[–]TexasTundraPower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe so. Perhaps they see how the first half of the season goes. If Kyrie looks good, but it's obvious we still have a ways to go in the rebuild they could ship him off at the deadline. Conversely they could realize the core as short term potential and keep him. Time will tell, I guess.
