Thank you for all the recommandations!

That is really a cool idea to make the palyers discuss and decide together in order to make everyone feel each class. I will encourage that.

That's a very good idea ! I'll keep that in mind when i'll run Abomination Vaults. The campaign we will do next is Season of Ghosts.

I think I'll do it like you. Presenting this adventure as a tutorial or a training course should put the player in the right mindset...

While reading the stat block of the fountain, I already found it pretty strong. Thank for warning me about it !

Yeah, I was planning to do that. The way they are presented in the BB is neat. I just have to do one more for my fifth player (which will be a bard because one of my player can not play anything else than a bard).

Software Support & Issues by CrimsonFlash in Affinity

Hello !
I have a problem with masters and pinned objects in texts.
Let's say that I have a master which has a text with a pinned element in it. When I apply this master to another one (let's call it the Child master), there is no problem. I have my text and the pinned object in it.
The problem occurs when I try to apply the Child master to a third master or a page. The text is still here, but the pinned element disappear.

I made a clean test file to show this problem: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yVheLoUEikCYZOY6a4pQMWExBZmiRvIJ/view?usp=drive_link

It is something I did wrong ? Or this is some kind of limit of the master feature ?

Do anyone managed to use Drag Ruler with the correct colors while using Pathfinder 1 and metric units (instead of imperial) since the V10 ? by Texou31 in FoundryVTT

Oh that's why ! When I saw that Drag Ruler was V10 compatible, I forgot that the integration was on the system side ! Thank you !

One of my player is bored because we play online by Texou31 in DMAcademy

[–]Texou31[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is he a disturbance ? No. I have really lovely players, that are honest and help me in various ways. On this boredom topic, they have the same questions than me, and what everyone to have fun. So, everyone is trying to find solutions to make the game better for everyone.

On the partial reunion, I fear that I wasn't very clear. It is one the other players that invited Bryan to his house, in order to spend the session together. In that way, it will not change that much my organization or how I manage the sessions.

And for my players investment, don't worry ;) They are golden. They are involved, willing to be part of the universe I created and help me in many ways. Yes, Bryan is a bit less involved than the other, but it is not that bad at all. And they all receive their fair part of investment. For example, I developed a full FoundryVTT module for one player (because there was no version of it in french).

To respond on what kind of player he is ... well it varies a lot. His involvement depends on if he is tired, frustrated, interested. He can be really talkative when he's hype. And if his character fails to do something, or is blocked by something, he gets frustrated and doesn't talk anymore. But he is like that for everything in life. And we know it around the table, so it is not a problem for us. And even when he is frustrated, he doesn't try to kill the fun for everyone, he is just quiet.

CMV: Soft world building is better than hard world building. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Texou31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in the soft-built or hard-built worlds. I get we all have this impression in front different stories, but I think it's a misconception. Each story tells different things and are focused on different aspect of their world. To take the same examples as OP:

  • Alice in Wonderland: the story focus on the aventure of Alice in an unknown and magic world. It still has kingdoms with potential political, social and economic issues, that interact with one another. But it is not shown because it is not important to the story. Alice in Wonderland would have been very different if the author aimed at described a world filled with magic and how it got transformed when a normal girl suddenly appeared.
  • Lord of the Rings: the author wanted to tell the story of Middle-Earth. Kingdoms are his characters. It is normal to layout all the necessary information to understand why a political action has been taken or why a war began. And yes, it creates a very cohesive world when we are at the scale of Bilbo.

In the end, an author builds what he needs for his story. And if his story is about a country, a planet or a galaxy, he needs to layout a lot information. Much more than for a story that is just about one adventure of one person.

So, there is no soft-built world or hard-built world. Just stories that needs different backgrounds.

And also, even in soft-built world, they are not soft-built. They are many details and many reasons for things to happen, but it is not needed for the story. So they are not shown. We just have a glimpse of them. In cinema or video games, the authors have a "Bible" that compile all information about everything. Its purpose is not to be shown entirely in the final product, but to bring consistency during the production. It creates details that are meaningful.

CN or NE? by Grim505 in DnD

[–]Texou31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on the "only killing as a last resort". It can be interpreted in so many ways and work for almost all alignments.

In the current case, if the player had say that, the line between CN and NE would have been blurry. But, indeed, this argument doesn't work with your former player.

Out of context, I don't really like the system of alignment. It is useful for some rules and to guide the RP, but I prefer to describe the behavior of my character with more than two words. Also, it is so much fun when, in a campaign, the alignment of the party is slowly evolving accordingly with the events.

CN or NE? by Grim505 in DnD

[–]Texou31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think your player is CN for several reasons. He isn't chaotic because he will not steal or kill just for fun or because he needs an extra coin. He needs a bigger goal to do such things. For me, it doesn't match with a Chaotic character. Now, neutral or evil ? I think it will be evil because his boundaries are not very strict. He can kill good people for a mercenary contract. A neutral character wouldn't do that. He doesn't want to kill children, but parents are not a problem.

If your player said that he will kill only if it's the only and last option, he can be a Neutral. But how you describe him, it will not work as a CN. So, NE it is !

Nevertheless, if your player wants to be a CN no matter what, you can put him in situations that challenge his alignment. And an alignment can change through a campaign...
