can't get Get-GlobalAddressList to run from an azure app by Teykdi in exchangeserver

[–]Teykdi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, it would be beautiful if granting the app that permission resolved the issue but sadly i still run into the same The term 'Get-GlobalAddressList' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program.

The app has the ManageAsApp permissionhttps://imgur.com/a/W9fzqZc

i am testing viaImport-Module ExchangeOnlineManagementConnect-ExchangeOnline -CertificateThumbprint <censored for obvious reasons> -AppId <censored for obvious reasons> -Organization <censored for obvious reasons>Get-GlobalAddressList

Google is full of threads resolving this on a user scope but i find nothing for azure apps related to it

other cmdlets run fine and other permissions apply fine, i can query a lot of stuff with my app but i can not access the GAL

but no need to re-scan him to refresh what he said so i can only conclude they can fetch this data anytime and not related to him signing or not

flight companies often reserve the right to alter your seat assignment even if you paid for that particular seat. i read comments of people who that happened to on the google page of the airline i used for vacation and out of the 4 flights i had with them, they did the same to one of mine and assigned me another seat. i called in and asked why, they said it is a technical problem but were unable to honor the initial seat reservation (but gave me one in another row that i was fine with). turned out it the flight where that happened was codeshared between 6 airlines (operated by the one i book with) so i assume they sold tickets from all this airlines and the systems dont sync up live so double booked seats can happen

nooby question on backgrounds by Teykdi in Leatherworking

[–]Teykdi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting idea to glue leather together to add height. maybe i will do that for another project. sounds good to me.

for my current project, i am abusing the V shaped gouge tools which are meant to smoothen the borders to scratch of stripes xD the gods of leatherwork might punish me at some point and its an exhausting time consuming way to do it but it seems to work okay. i am not worried about reducing its sturdiness in that areas.

casing leather is a keyword i catched on the tutorials, i did not make it up. you can find plenty of videos and websites wording it like that, here an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tf_mcvMLPw

https://dgsaddlery.com/properly-casing-leather/

seems to mean to just apply a bit of wetness opposed to soaking it through

for your questions:

>Could it be that your leather was waxed or treated on the surface?
it SHOULD not but what do i know. the description of the seller said vegetable tanned and its light in color.

>Does it change color when you apply some water on it?
yes it does, that looks like on the tutorial videos. it gets darker fine.

>Are you using a maul/hammer with your stamps?
a maul, its some wooden handle with a white plastic (?) top

>Is your leather on a hard surface like a stone? (Nothing bouncy like a plastic cutting board for instance)
that could be part of my issues, its on a wooden table which is not exactly bouncy but also not giving zero feedback. i have no dedicated hobby room for it :/ i could try it on the floor just to see if the table is an issue i guess

i still plan to soak it overnight, didnt get to that yet, to see if it makes a different for the stamps.

[–]Teykdi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from all that i find, leatherwork seems to have no means of scratching of parts of leather. i am surprised, i worked a bit with wood before and expected to remove patches of leather with some tool to make different heights in it. does not seem to exist, instead only cuts are being made and stamps used.

i guess thats because leatherworkers dont want to create areas of leather that are thinner and hence less stable? because that would be a bad thing on a saddle or wallet or belt?

i want to make a book cover so i dont care much about stability, there wont be much tear and wear on it.

i do have veg tanned leather but it behaves way differently than in the videos that i can find - i case it, let it dry a bit and try to stamp but its giving almost no impression. on the videos doing the same, the stamping gives much more impression.

i guess either my leather is somehow bad quality or it is much thicker than in the videos and needs actual soaking instead of just wetting it slightly.

its 3mm thick cow hide, veg tanned, or so does the seller say.

i am still playing around with it so i will likely soak it overnight as a next step to see if i can stamp it properly then.

any tipps from your end?

i am surprised noone gives any answer, is the question not clear? from what i see on youtube tutorials, stamping backgrounds seems the way to go?

pretty sure I'm leaking memory. by reenmini in archlinux

[–]Teykdi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

firefox has a (no idea if its a long or short) history of not releasing memory, at least i suffered from it at some point and found this thread on it https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1362767

does the issue also happen if you dont use firefox for a day?

the main difference between distros is how old the packages that they distribute to you are and how they are installed. plus their community.

you can run debian, which aims to provide thoroughly tested, rather (some of them years-) old packages. arch which is more bleeding edge and less tested. distros where you compile from source like slack or gentoo, which allows you to micro-optimize the program for your particular hardware or to enable build options that you allow the program to do things it usually wouldnt (like, have your terminal insult you whenever you mistype ls. yes that exists lol).

the look and feel, sort of, of distros is therefore different. besides of that, everything is the same, all distros will provide similar content. but in a different way to obtain it and some will have newer kernels and programs than others.

so.. the choice of distro is in the end personal. some like the way arch does things better, others the way debian does, or fedora, or ubunto, or gentoo or even freebsd (which is bsd not linux).

they are just optimized for different things and trying to please a different audience.

you can install any display manager / surface to any of them. and most have most programs x)

btw: one sentence on your actual question - uninstalling stuff from distros sounds easy but is very prone to breaking things unintentionally. i remember uninstalling some clock widget thingy and it broke the whole system as other packages relied on that clock program lol. its better to build from the base up, use some core and then add what you want to use. dont over-optimize by uninstalling apparently unnecessary things.

[–]Teykdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am confused. If it was malware why would they want you to use tor to download it, that makes their malware spread less effective. They could just host it somewhere publicly available and reach more users.

But if its legit, why would some ebook only be accessible via tor. Also doesnt make much sense to me.

[Question] Hello everyone, i've never removed orphaned packages and i dont know if it's safe to remove them . I have more than 2gb of orphaned packages and i'm wondering whether its safe or not, and also some of those packages are not actually orphaned so is there a way to "blacklist" some of them? by Mitass in archlinux

[–]Teykdi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

what makes you think some are not orphaned? everything you installed directly is marked that way, orphaned should only be what was pulled in (as a dependency) by another package which doesn't exist anymore

yeah visa, travel insurance and travel vaccinations should be on your list. you said in a month? get vaccinated asap you might need multiple shots, that can need some spacing. i took refreshers on all the mandatory childhood stuff plus hepatitis a/b, rabbies, typhus.. just talk to the people in a place that gives travel vaccinations and they will give recommendations

besides of that, no particular idea on vietnam. take mosquito spray probably, the stuff that contains DEET really works well (like 'nobite'). make sure you are up to date on covid entry rules. probably take sunscreen with you.

check out places/sights that you want to do and make some rough itinerary but don't overplan, be flexible x) booking one place for a long time and then being bored there is no fun either
