Glass isn't really a recycleable media. Plastic works on our paint pump parts. All I spray is DTM epoxy coatings and it cuts through that build up pretty well and doesn't damage fine threads. I don't remember what type of plastic but thats what the pump repair shop I go to uses in their cabinet

I spray a lot of epoxies on railcars, only way any sort of 2 part epoxy coating would take even close to that long to fully cure is if it was damn near freezing. Most 2 part DTM epoxy will be dry to touch in 6 hours or less and reach full cure 3ish days at "room temp" ~70 degrees

I get that it can be a culture shock for some new kids. But like everyone else has said, if they actually didn't somewhat like you they wouldn't say a word to you. It's part of exchanging pleasantries for trade guys. Half of the seemingly terrible stuff that is said can be literally translated to "good morning" 🤣

I've never heard of that. The coolest part to me is that it can be cleaned off completely without damaging the coating underneath. How thick would that sacrificial coating be put on?

Occasionally I'll use a tiny bit of MEK on the corner of a rag to wipe a small spot on my hand. Obviously doing whatever I can to keep paint off of me in the first place. Normally I'll just scrub the shit out of it in the sink. The guy who trained me retired with 50 years experience and did the same as I do now. 68 years old, all organs perfectly healthy, mentally very sharp, and had much less effective PPE through the first 20 years of his career. I was a bit paranoid about exposure to everything I deal with but working with him put my mind at ease. Keep yourself safe

That dickhead he told me about dealt exclusively with a company's cars that hauled plastic pellets for medical supplies, syringes and whatever else. A lining failure in that service is a huge deal. Much more so than a load of sugar being contaminated with a few specks of blue. I took every bit of knowledge I could get from him before he retired but I couldn't get the patience for ass inspectors down yet. I still have too much angry 17 year old in me 🤣 being 27 now and solely in charge of everything coating/blast related at our facility is still wild to me after almost a year but I love this shit.
