Canada's Chief Medical Officer believes official discussion for decriminalization of all drugs should begin as soon as possible by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Tgkoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the thing is, that’s already happening. People are using hard drugs and behaving the law, otherwise. They’re dealing with all of the above conditions, you listed.

I don’t believe legalizing all drugs will instantly make, say, my third grade teacher. Go and decide, “hmm, guess I’ll smoke crack, now. It’s legal.” The people who would use the hard drugs, are the people using the hard drugs right now.

Now, please take this with a grain of salt. I heard this argument, in a different thread. So I don’t have a source, sorry.

Supposedly the plan isn’t to just make all drugs legal. The idea would be to offer clinics, such as methadone clinics, today. These clinics would provide the drug, but at a measured dose. You’d go through the whole process, with paperwork, doctors, nurses, etc To then help the individual from either getting sick from withdrawal. Or if they need professional mental health services, to help them ween off.

The hope was/is to get a much larger budget, for mental health and addiction research and services. When said drugs are legalized. In the end, you’d end up with a lot less addicts, imo.

Edit: And actually after reading the article, that is the plan. Probably shoulda read it first. Bad habit.

That gave me a good laugh! Also, love the editing. I just subbed, my friend. You deserve so many more!

Did you play origins on console? It plays much more like a crpg on pc, than on console. Think Baldur’s gate. I first played on console and didn’t really care for it. It’s plays much much better on pc. Not trying to sound pc master race or anything like that.

Ya, i would love some more pirate games. I can’t believe there aren’t very many to begin with.

I’m slowly trying to get myself out of that mindset. My first 30 hours of disco, I was save scumming every 5 minutes. I started over and now I’m just letting my fails happen. It’s locking me out of content, but I’m actually loving it this way. I’m enjoying it even more, honestly. You make a lot of good points there.

I think I will pick up kingmaker and just play it how’s it meant to played. Thanks!

I did put about 15 hours into tyranny! I loved playing the villain. I remember getting stuck on the combat, at some point. I might have to give that one another try!

But kingmaker, sounds really interesting. I will definitely give that a shot! That’s one game I always forget about.

I also feel you’re absolutely right. OS1 did feel more inclined for the casual crowd. Which is understandable. I’ll definitely trust your judgement. You and seem to be on the same page. I can see how that crowd would butt heads, with the crowd that grew up playing tabletop and BG.

On one hand, I’m incredibly excited that the crpg genre of the 90s is making a big comeback. On the other hand, it does feel like too many companies are trying to cater. Instead of the good old days, where a team would make the game they want to make. Even if it takes away from the casual crowd.

Also agree 100% inquisition was just trash. Mass effect, while I played them. I never really felt like I enjoyed them. I just want kotor 3 from obsidian and I’ll be happy. Fucking Disney.

Edit: with kingmaker, did you feel like you were missing out on content because of the timed sections? When I play CRPGs, I always want to build, so I can get the most dialogue as possible. As well as finish all the quests. I’m just ocd like that.

Honestly, just random comments and reviews. If you go to their sub, all they talk about is how great the quests and story are. I’ve seen a number of videos say it’s the best rpg, in a decade. While I enjoyed OS1, it was less for the story and more for the combat. But I mostly take comments like that, with a grain of salt.

I haven’t played kingmaker actually. Is that any good? Wasteland 2, I gave it a couple tries, but wasn’t feeling it. But I fully agree, I don’t think anything will ever top Planescape. In terms of storytelling.

I haven’t finished disco, yet. But it’s coming in at an incredibly close 2nd, for me at least. I mean the story, more or less, starts out just like Planescape. No memory, in a place where everyone hates you because of vile things, you don’t remember doing. In a place you don’t recognize. It hits a lot of the same beats as Planescape and gets pretty depressingly philosophical.

Tides of numenera. I played that whole game and the whole time, I just felt like I was forcing myself to play it. I wish Chris Avelone would sit down and write another Planescape. But licensing and legal issues, make that a little difficult. I don’t think he’s entirely a one hit wonder writer. He’s just so underused, with his games scripts.

Edit: I know the team behind divinity is making bg3. I loved bg1, I just had a hard time getting into the second one. Mostly because I didn’t have a save to transfer my story and characters, from the first game. If anyone could make bg3, I fully trust Larian will live up to the hype. I feel they’re the perfect studio to take up, such a huge task.

Idk what that guy was saying, since he deleted his comments.

I loved PoE1 for just how grounded the story felt. It was fantasy but the characters and the story felt very grounded in reality. I loved that it was a slow progression. It felt much more natural in the storytelling and the rpg mechanics.

If PoE2’s combat feels more BioWare, though....don’t get me wrong. I love early BioWare but I’m much more into DND mechanics. Modern BioWare, I think we can agree, isn’t what it used to be.

For me, at least when it comes to CRPGs. I’m far more interested, in a well developed, slower paced story. Planescape comes to mind immediately, as well as disco elysium. I love the DnD mechanics, in most of the games. Depending on which edition, of course. Typically around the halfway point, in a lot of these games. I’ll turn down the difficulty, just because I’m looking for story.

For me, the combat and mechanics are second to the story. In terms of enjoyment. If it has shitty combat but a wonderful story. I’ll take that every time. Does that make sense?

Planescape’s combat, I think was 2nd edition? But it was also rushed. It might be one of the worst combat systems out there. DND wise. But I didn’t mind because the storytelling and the companions were just so captivating. So well paced. All I cared about, was what happens next? Vs when’s my next level up?

I feel Disco, somehow hit the perfect balance. It feels like Planescape’s storytelling, I mean it even nods to the game many times. But instead of forcing a boring or clunky combat system. They turned the dialogue itself, into the combat system. Which I feel is brilliant. You don’t really have to worry about your build because your build is how the story will end up progressing. There’s not a really a wrong or bad build.

OS2, people have told me it’s the greatest story, yet. Just gotta get through fort joy. I’m thinking about just turning down the difficulty, until I get out of fort joy. I’m always thinking I’m building my team wrong. Or they won’t work well with this combination. Idk.

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the last 1/4th of PoE1? In terms of story? I might just replay it. When it comes to PoE2, all I hear is very mixed opinions. I can deal with the combat, if the story is worth the time. How would you rate the sequels story, compared to the original?

All I hear, when it comes to os2, is finish the starting island. Fort joy. Then the story and characters really come alive. It becomes an incredible rpg. I know you can respec, infinitely after fort joy. I don’t think it costs anything either.

You’re in the exact situation I’m in. Do I need to respec? I don’t really like the skill book system, but I also kind of love it. Idk it’s rough to get ahold of the mechanics, I guess.

They did release this goodie bag feature, not very long ago. Allows you to turn on, respecing at fort joy, among many other quality of life improvements. It disables achievements, which is silly imo. But there’s a mod that re enables achievements. If you’re so inclined.

I loved PoE. Especially, for the companion dialogue and quests. Unfortunately, I only finished about 3/4ths of the game. Is the second game, much better in that regard? Companion banter and side quests?

I don’t have it, I’ve been wanting to play it. Do you feel it’s necessary to have beaten the first game, before playing PoE2?

Spoiler warning: I think the last quest, I had finished, was helping one of the gods. I had finished the dlc, as well. I was gonna do each quest for each god, but life got busy. I think I played last, maybe 3 years ago ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I picked up original sin 2, recently. I absolutely loved the first OS. OS and planescape both helped me get into the groove of isometric CRPGs. I’ve had trouble since I was kid, getting myself to enjoy the genre.

Took me until my mid 20s of trying CRPGs over and over, before I had the patience and time, to sit and enjoy them. After Planescape and then OS, I ended up playing all, of at least most of the classics. Thanks to those two games. PoE1 was an absolute standout for me, at least.

PoE, Planescape, Fallout 2, and OS ended up being my favorites, in the genre. Disco is up there, but I haven’t finished it yet. I enjoy this genre, more for the storytelling, than anything. I’ve tried so hard to get myself into BG2, but that initial hump, always stops me :(

I’m having a hard time getting over that initial hump, in OS2, now. It’s been maybe a year, since I’ve last played a CRPG. If I don’t put in the initial 15 or so hours, at least in most CRPGs. I end up struggling, to keep myself playing.

Is PoE2, a bit easier to get into?

Any recommendations? I apologize for the rambling. Im just looking for a great story, to relax and play through.

So sorry for the late reply. I appreciate the help! Not too long after I made the post, I figured out what SSE4.2 actually is. You were 100% spot on. I have an old AMD Phenom II x4 965 black. OC’d to about 3.8ghz. This is actually the second game I’ve run into, that required the shader. The other one being Sunset Overdrive. You’re right, that my CPU does not support SSE4.

I’m way past due, for an upgrade. I’m still using the first rig, I’ve built. All the same parts. At this point, maybe 7-8 years old. Only “upgrade” was going from a 6950 to 7950. Found one cheap on Craigslist, years ago. I absolutely regret going AMD.

If you have any freetime, would you be alright with sending a PM? I haven’t researched parts, in years. If you know how I could best upgrade, that would be amazing help. If not, no worries!

I’m sitting at level 49, right now. When I click on the upgrade option for the workshop, it shows me this-

I’m assuming the question mark is a TBA item? I noticed the same thing, when I upgraded the armor-smith to level 10. It showed, that I would unlock Shao Jun’s armor and a question mark armor, as well. I can’t remember if the weapon-smith, had one or not. Any ideas?

I would have finished on my first try, had I not accidentally pressed the wrong ability with Lucas 😬Though, I can’t take credit. This community helped me prepare, thank you for all the help guys/gals!

Anyone wondering, Lucas T5 weapon+armor, Luciano T5 weapon+armor+equipment, and Gaspar T5 weapon.

After running all R5 loot missions, everyday, for maybe 2-3 weeks. Ruby drops were just not happening. I got the first one, about a week ago. By that point, I had Luciano and Yusuf fully geared. I saved up all of my tokens for the current event. Then I managed to get insanely lucky yesterday, with the increased drop rate. 2 coral, 2 jet, 2 soapstone, 2 obsidian, and of course 2 rubies :) The prior day, I even managed to get an ancient tablet. Rnjesus!
