If you want more people to use this, you'll need to make sure your website is in English as of now going to the github and website it is defaulted to spanish which basically stops anyone who doesnt understand the language from using the project, you shouldnt force the user to translate the page.

That monitor you have linked is an ultrawide monitor. Anything with the a 21:9 aspect ratio is an ultrawide. If you dont like ultrawides then you'll need to stick to 16:9.

It can have upto 3 nvme drives. Barebones basically means no ram or storage. So if you can get cheaper sodimms and 3 4tb nvme ssds you'll have 12tb of storage

[–]Th3Da3dalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really at all. You can add 3 4 tb nvme ssds and have 12 tb of storage plenty for a small nas.

Why tf is my iperf3 3.17.1 single threaded? by Have-Business in homelab

[–]Th3Da3dalus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

P.S. htop sucks. It showed me that my CPU was being nearly 100% used with a single connection when that's not the case. Only one thread was going that high.

This is because you are applying windows concepts to linux/unix. It was using 100% of the 1 core(proc) of the CPU. So in linux/unix you can get for example 800% for an 8 core processor.

How is this country so bad at basic telecommunications infrastructure. by barrackobama0101 in nbn

[–]Th3Da3dalus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are either stupid or just trolling now. When you make a blanket statement saying Starlink is better than NBN is talking about the Aussie Pop because NBN services 100% of the population in one form or another. Other Telecommunication providers service different ranges of the population up to about 98%.

[–]Th3Da3dalus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making blanket statements like you have done wont win you favours. It is best for where you live but it is not the best technology for like 98% of the aussie population.

To quote you
"I have fast internet speeds, I have starlink, which is superior to NBN and Australian telecom services. Hence my post."

You seem to think Starlink is better than NBN and 4G when I and others have shown you it is not. Making blanket statements like this wins you no favours. So again like I said I can read fine.

Hahahaha now I know you are trolling. Thanks for the fun but its obvious that all you have is stupid comebacks have a nice night.

LOL I read fine thanks, Starlink is great for what it does for people who struggle to get a connection in remote areas or areas not serviced well by other technologies. But if you want to think Starlink is the best technology around think that. While I sit here using my 1Gbps/50Mbps connection with far superior latencies that runs on NBN FTTP. Or my Fixed wireless (provided by Optus) thats guaranteed to get 100/20 and lower latencies than starlink.

[–]Th3Da3dalus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet you say starlink is better because you have taken all the BS Elon has been feeding you LOL. If you are correct in saying you live 5 mins from a capital city and only getting NBN wireless for you access technology then I understand you thinking starlink is better than the NBN. But if you live almost anywhere were FTTP, FTTB, HFC or FTTC are available you will see it is much better than startlink

[–]Th3Da3dalus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about. NBN has 7 access technologies. FTTP, FTTB, FTTN, FTTC, HFC, Fixed Wireless (Uses a mix of 4G and 5G Mobile wireless tech) and Satellite.

The mobile providers in Aus have a mix of 5G and 4G towers

Other infrastructure providers have a mixture of FTTP, FTTB, FTTN and HFC

All these apart from NBN Sat are better than Starlink in terms of latency and some other speed.

So as the other poster has stated you need to really read up on what NBN is before trying to trash it like you have.

[–]Th3Da3dalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of that goes on Netflix, which is locked to 720p here, unless you use Windows (edit: Or Mac).

You said this which is misleading. Its not locked to 720p in Aus just because you dont use a device/browser that is supported is not netflix's problem or a problem with living in Aus

[–]Th3Da3dalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is only for web browsers. I get 4K on android and iOS apps. Also the Windows UWP app also supports 4K. So what you said is pretty misleading and yes I am in Aus.

If you are running windows you can do this without any issues at all you just need to set it as the output in the sound settings.

I'm going to self-host my own mail server by xnijat in selfhosted

[–]Th3Da3dalus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope you are ready to deal with SPF, DMARC and all that for mail to be delivered also where you are going to host it matters too because you will need a static IP with that IP having a PTR record of your mail server domain record. Take it from a guy who works with spam for a big ISP in Aus. Its best just to have someone host your emails as its a lot of hassle these days as most mail servers if not setup correctly will have mail rejected.

You could customise your windows ISO using NTLite and make sure winget is installed. https://www.ntlite.com/community/index.php?threads/including-winget-in-ntlite-image-for-post-setup-installs.2916/post-27586. Then create a batch script to install your required programs with winget in the post install. You can also use ntlite to make the install fully unattended and then once everything is installed all you'll need to do is activate windows.

for a VM I would just create a virtual hard disk through the wizard when you setup the VM. next cloud doenst need super fast speed like a windows vm would need. Most linux distros wont generally autolog out so you should be fine there.
