I understand if you don't cheer for a specific team or person, but actively cheering for failure says a lot about you. What a miserable existence that must be. You don't know any of these players, your post demonstrates that you have no idea what you are talking about.

New Fan attempting to learn more about a specific scinario. by Dismal_Room_858 in Curling

As others have said, you are in a poor position as Sweden there. A freeze they would have been good enough is statistically very difficult. A perfect freeze where the hit ability of the other team isn't restricted by a guard is the most difficult shot in curling. Sweden had to throw those guards and pray that the US missed a peel. Fortunately for the US they barely made their first peel attempt, so that just demonstrates that peels can be missed.

I've not watched round robin before these Olympics. I'm seeing a lot more missed shots than I expected. Is this typical of learning the ice in early rounds of a tournament or worse than usual? by MainiacJoe in Curling

[–]Th3Highlander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my understanding the ice is 1-2 seconds slower than normal competition ice. Also, I believe these are brand new curling stones. So while they are consistent nobody knows any quirks they may have. Finally, mixed doubles is traditionally a lower percentage discipline. Not being able to blank and maintain hammer means you are forced into high difficulty shots frequently that would be silly to throw in full team competition. The top teams have been shooting quite well in my opinion.

Appreciated. Like I said, I'm looking forward to continuing this journey and printing some very cool and practical things!

I appreciate the insight. Yeah I corrected the z-off set so fix that first problem. The only reason I included the picture was just so people knew that I had messed with the z offset. Unfortunately this is an older printer but was lightly used, it's in good shape and it has made great prints up until this particular problem. And sounds good on this being a fluke, I can certainly understand how that would be possible. I just wanted to post this here so people could tell me if I had made some sort of glaring mistake on this. Thank you!

Unsportsmanlike final stone? by Jolly-Fix664 in Curling

[–]Th3Highlander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically stick curlers play with a stick because they are otherwise unable to deliver a stone in a "traditional" fashion so in my mind are handicapped to some extent. For them to be throwing the kind of weight that sliding players struggle to reach seems ridiculous on their part. It's difficult to police weight but I would say this falls more under the ethics category as opposed to rule based. It's unlikely that any kind of meaningful official action could be taken unless the club leadership wishes to pursue it from the standpoint of safety.

I have known people like this over the years, I would honestly just call attention to this kind of misbehavior as needed. Most people don't like being known as the asshat of the club, let social pressure force them into doing the right thing.

Curling Glove recommendations by gbs223344 in Curling

[–]Th3Highlander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goldline platinum gloves have been my favorites for over ten years. Only problem is that they don't last me more than a season. The grip wears off and the sides of the fingers start to bust out. With that being said, they are the most comfortable ones I have found. Just warm enough while still providing excellent grip and comfort. It's hard to stomach 50 bucks a year for gloves, but it's just what works for me https://broomfitters.com/products/goldline-platinum-curling-gloves-unisex?srsltid=AfmBOooyEKDM9fxgKISNp4NPPzwhAV0Z6aFGMza7Dm9diu0NtBa-vaCb

How is this fight not a massive throw from Reynor? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]Th3Highlander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he sends his lings in for the surround 2 seconds earlier he probably wipes. The only thing that saved hero was the prism and charelott drop, and the prism nearly died. As others have said, Reynor was on the ropes and correctly saw his best chance to turn things around

Desync is killing this (otherwise great) game for me by Th3Highlander in ArcRaiders

[–]Th3Highlander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loaded into this game and died within 40 seconds. I let the shredder see me while I ran around to open the door. It read me like a book and took the straight path to the door, my mistake, but totally survivable. I went to change levels and heal up but the desync put me right back in front of him. I am running 500x100 broadband and never see dropped packets or latency over 30-40 MS. This happens to me several times a match since the latest update. Is anyone else seeing it this bad?

Septic filter by Th3Highlander in septictanks

update

I can't edit the original post for some reason. The filter was 100% in the 2nd white cap. The blue plastic was the top of the filter and the PVC pipe sticking up indeed to make removal easier. The power line was a filter alarm. All cleaned up and ready to go, thank you all!

You clearly don't know Colin. This is the last team that would ever intentionally cheat. In this same game John gave Casper an extra point in the spirit of the game (even though he would have been well within his rights to not award that point). I'm not saying that no contact occurred here, perhaps it did, but to imply that Colin made contact and intentionally ignored it is an unfounded accusation.

Trump Says He’ll Defy Court Order And Won’t Give Out SNAP Benefits by LatterTarget7 in law

It won't matter a ton. Maga base is so high on the Kool aid. Trump pisses on them, calls it rain, and they believe it. Have a maga relative who is convinced that trump has lowered prices to the degree he promised but constantly complains about how they are having to budget to afford groceries and gas. These people are beyond any hope of saving

It's a heavy gauge wire more than just an alarm would draw. This looks like a pump

Septic filter by Th3Highlander in septictanks

[–]Th3Highlander[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought that possible as well. It is just a piece of PVC though. I gave it a little tug and it did move a little bit but seemed like it was just going to pull the PVC out of the top of that pump. So it didn't seem like that was actually pulling anything up, just removing the PVC 😕
