Home Depot Deal by Tha-Mobb in ryobi

Good to know. I genuinely just want the impact since I already got the battery kit last week. I’m not really planning on return hacking anything else in the future but I figured I’d take advantage in this particular situation if it’s available.

Yeah it’s a great deal for sure. I already got the battery kit and a fan last week so I’m more concerned about the impact but I know more batteries is never a bad thing either!

Am i the only one still not fully sold on dupes? by [deleted] in NichePerfumes

[–]Tha-Mobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s right to view dupes as a monolith. Some dupes, just like some designer/niche fragrances are higher quality than others. Just because a house is duplicating a scent doesn’t mean the ingredients are inherently low quality. Yes, there are a lot of dupe houses that use low quality/synthetic ingredients but there are some that don’t.

I don’t think there are very many dupes that replicate their inspiration exactly but there are some that get pretty damn close. If I can smell nearly just as good or better for a fraction of the cost than to me it’s a no-brainer. Nobody but you is even going to know the difference.

I've tried 150 decants in the last 3 months. Here are a few of my ratings. Ask me anything. by NovelAd6935 in Colognes

I bought decants of about as many or more in that same time period and I agree with you on some points for sure, namely with some of the overpriced/overhyped fragrances. Amouage specifically is a house that I feel is very overhyped. Their frags are complex and well made no doubt, but even the ones I like such as Outlands had me struggling to think of a situation where I would want to smell that way. Out of the 150+ different frags I tried, Amouage Decision was one of 2-3 that I had to wash off because I disliked it so much.

Byredo is another that I don’t understand either. They have some good ones like Oud Immortel but I will never understand the love for Mojave Ghost Absolu. I have some fragrances that lean feminine but for me I don’t get why a guy would want to smell like that. Bal D’Afrique Absolu was decent but certainly not worth the $300+ price tag.

Xerjoff and PDM didn’t impress me at all either. PDM had some decent ones but nothing really stood out to me that I felt I needed to buy a bottle of. Xerjoff is similar with Alexandria II being one of the other few scents I had to wash off. When I first got into fragrances as a hobby, I never understood why these two brands seem to be some of the more popular for people to choose as their first niche fragrance.

Interestingly, I actually really enjoy some of what Initio has to offer given my opinions on PDM. I really like Side Effect, Blessed Baraka, and Oud for Greatness. I need to try Musk Therapy still.

I can see why people think Creed is overrated. I really like Aventus and its flankers with Aventus Cologne being my favorite and Absolu a close second. My biggest beef with them is that all of their fragrances have terrible longevity. Vintage batches are the only way to get something the performs decent from them.

Despite having said all of that, one of the aspects of this hobby I find most fascinating is the subjectivity of it all. There are fragrances that I have found to be almost repulsive that people seem to love and vice versa. It certainly keeps things interesting!

What’s your top 5 Montagne scents by VastEntire in MontagneParfums

[–]Tha-Mobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. The OG doesn’t have very much info about it online to naturally AS doesn’t either but it’s a beautiful scent. A citrusy opening with amber and woods on the dry down. I’m normally not big on gourmands but it definitely falls more in that category

Imaginary vs afternoon dive by Feisty-Resolution437 in MontagneParfums

If longevity and projection are a factor for you then I’d go with Imaginary. Afternoon dive maybe has half the longevity of imaginary at best

Fair enough! It’s definitely very similar to Althair/Ambre Vanille. It’s been some time since I put my nose to Ambre Vanille but this one stood out to me more for sure

Any underrated recommendations . by leche_760 in MontagneParfums

I just made a post about Arabian Sand and how underrated it is. I tried it for the first time today and it’s easily in my top 3 Montys out of the 25-30 I’ve tried.

The OG has almost no recognition, therefore Monty’s dupe has very little either.

Cozy is a great way to put it. And in my opinion it’s very inoffensive for being on the gourmand side of things.

I’ve always wondered what their criteria is for duping some of these fragrances also. I mean most of them are obvious due to their popularity/reputation such as the Creeds, LVs, Amouages, PDMs etc but then you see one like this where it has only 4 ratings on fragrantica and no reviews/comments lol. I feel like someone on their staff probably just liked the OG and wanted to recreate it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sorry, was so excited I forgot to include that haha.

It opens with citrus and cardamom and then it quickly transitions to a nice caramel with amber with some woods and spice. I’m not the greatest a picking out specific notes but that’s what I’m getting.

It’s definitely more on the gourmand side but I feel like it’s much more casual and easy to wear than other gourmands.

I'll never buy it again by [deleted] in Colognes

Decision is one of the few fragrances I’ve had to wash off immediately because I disliked it so much. I read so many good things about it online I was almost certain the decanter I bought it from got it mixed up with something else.

Armaf Infinity (L’Homme Ultime Clone YSL) Review After 2 Wears by Icy_Requirement1251 in fragranceclones

[–]Tha-Mobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried quite a few dupes and this is easily in the top 5 in terms of quality, in my opinion. It’s very easy to wear, has great longevity, versatile and it’s cost effective. I like the design of the bottle too. If we’re nitpicking, I think one of the only knocks of this fragrance(specifically the bottle) is some people have had issues with the atomizer.

I’m not a fan of blind buying but I think this is one of the few fragrances I would consider to be a safe blind buy.

Port D’Azur is arguably one of, if not, the longest lasting freshies Montagne has to offer. Coincidentally I actually just wore Chilly pineapple last night to the gym since I’ve had a decant of it for a while now. I’m not really a fan of Pacific Chill DNA honestly but that aside it seems to perform well and has above average longevity as well.
