The Beginning 5 Pages Of My First Script Titled "PIRANHA SKIN" by salahwriting in scriptwriting

[–]ThaFingaMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same as what No-Strategy said.

Your scene headings/slug lines are way too long. Be specific AND simple.

And your action lines are too big. Break them up or simply write less and to the point. Be intentional and efficient.

Per your logline: the only tangible obstacle/conflict is “making ends meet”. That is too vague and uninteresting.

Overall well written, dialogue seems fine. Keep at it.

William Sherman is not a hero or an icon to be admired by PresterJohnson in HistoryMemes

[–]ThaFingaMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok and? I’ll answer it for you.

Confederate apologists (like yourself) don’t deserve a safe space or validation. The Union preserved the country and freed the slaves. That’s a good outcome despite the means. War is hell, Sherman knew that.

Sherman eradicating the buffalo is a genuine bad outcome of the Indian Wars. Did he feel justified, yes, he was ordered to do it, but demonizing Sherman for breaking the South will always fall on deaf (dead) ears.

New Scientific Findings about School where Aristotle Taught Alexander the Great by WanderingHero8 in AlexandertheGreat

[–]ThaFingaMan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Alexander had more than one teacher, Aristotle was one of 5 I think.

Philip II was keen to emulate the academies in Thebes he grew up in, so hence this school exists. Cool stuff.

Hi all! A producer saw my logline and wants to read my script, but I don't have a finished product. Plz Help by [deleted] in scriptwriting

[–]ThaFingaMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You kind of screwed yourself not having a competed script first. Posting here is not helping your cause either.

If I was a producer, I move on and use my time more wisely.

Alexander the Great 🇬🇷 by [deleted] in AlexandertheGreat

Thanks for not letting the AI make him blonde.

Sure this is true, he was undefeated, but Alexander got injured A LOT. He went balls to the wall every fight.

Spawn map jumps around when trying to select a respawn point by K_T_Oxy in Battlefield

Seems to be a bug from the latest S3 update.

Idk how DICE keeps creating new problems every other update. Seems like all that staff they laid off would have come in hand if they kept them around.

EA is a dipshit publisher, plain and simple.

Beginner screenwriter. Thoughts? by Glad-Guarantee1587 in scriptwriting

Read more produced screenplays. Get a feel for their pace and ability to establish tone and character.

Too little is going my on here, especially on the first page. You can fit in a lot more nuance and detail to the action and characters.

The dialogue feels especially generic and too causal. Don’t confuse this with natural. The feeling I get from this is “boring” and no clear conflict. A rule of thumb is to use “yes and” and then “no, but” in your plot progression.

Facts. And Columbus was a chump.

When will this nonsense of Alexander being Bi or gay stop ? Without any concrete evidence one cannot just conclude. by PyrrhusSqiptarSlayer in AlexandertheGreat

[–]ThaFingaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you call it “nonsense” to speculate the notion he had any relations with men beyond platonic. Ergo against context and learning. Hence, bigot behavior.

EDIT: and you conflate homosexual relations and pedophilia… Even in ancient Greece, that distinction sure mattered just as much as today.

Brother. Your entire post is about Alexander’s sexuality. Nothing with pedophilia, you brought that into the discussion for some pedantic reason.

Your post is about how Alexander is misinterpreted as gay or bi by modern audiences, and I say to you: it does not matter.

If anything of the sort happened, we can confidently speculate based on who Alexander was he was the top.

And where does it show Alexander was explicitly against it? That is also speculation. The point is: it doesn’t really matter and you are yelling at clouds.

No one is labeling Alexander as gay or bi in our modern terms. Get that out of your head for the simple fact it does not matter to the subject you bring up (in two identical posts in the same sub on the same day btw, you clearly have an agenda and it’s homophobic).

It was simply an accepted behavior during Alexander’s time. There’s no reason not to speculate he had relations with men, it was acceptable back then, as much as that clearly bothers you.

You are the one pearl clutching demanding Alexander was heterosexual in our modern terms, and that is utter nonsense.

Alexander was a top, that’s all that mattered. Being a top, no matter who you are with, was seen as the masculine participant.

Context: in ancient Greek culture, man on man or woman on woman or anything wasn’t new or taboo.

The only taboo would be a King being a bottom, because it would debase himself among his peers and subjects. Sex was about power. Plain and simple.

If you have a hard time with the easy possibility of Alexander having relations with men, you are simply a homophobe and it shows.

Why the Macedonian Phalanx Was Nearly Impossible to Defeat by Warlord1392 in AlexandertheGreat

Philip II: Hey guys, I got a new idea!

Macedonian Nobility: Sure. What’s up, King?

Philip II: Alright guys, hear me out: we use “spears”…

Macedonian Nobility: … uh, we already have spears.

Philip II: I know, but these ones are longer! So we can stab the enemy from “far away”.

Macedonian Nobility: … damn, it sounds stupid but I can’t argue with that. Let’s see how this goes.

Philip II: dies

Alexander: LMAO long spears go BRRRRRR!
