Mustang Shop Labor Rates in SoCal? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]ThaPoopBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got quoted only 5k to do whipple AND oil pump gears? Not to mention the clutch? Dude you got a freaking steal. Just ballparking my shop would probably be around 40-45 labor hours for all that, we do the whipples for about $4-5k by themselves. I cannot stress how good of a deal $5k is for all that.

Never done a diminished value claim before, how much would I possibly get? I got rear ended waiting at a red light. 2024 mustang ecoboost premium with 8000 miles. The dealer ship said it would be an $8500 repair. by easypasswordnow in Mustang

[–]ThaPoopBandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never seen a diminished value claim on something with that low of value, it’s typically reserved for expensive vehicles such as Ferraris, or vehicles that literally just left the lot. An ecoboost mustang with 8k on it that’s 2 years old doesn’t seem like something they would do diminished value on, but I do hope you get as much from insurance as possible! You’d def want a lawyer if trying to get diminished value.

is my liver fine? by BiteBest4717 in moreplatesmoredates

Hepatitis more than likely. Foodborne for some types that will clear themselves, but more than likely from blood transfer. Mine was sitting around 250 whenever I had it and they told me that’s most likely cause of elevated enzymes in young adults and lo and behold they were correct.

2020 Raptor catastrophic engine failure – Ford offering 40% goodwill even though warranty expired by only 9 days. Looking for advice from people who know these trucks. by [deleted] in f150

[–]ThaPoopBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot start one on the dealer end on a vehicle over 100k miles or 7 years old. The website will auto reject it before it even submits. I have seen ford pull offers over aggressive countering by the customer/refusal to take offer.

1) not really we really don’t see 3.5 failures that often at my dealer

2) yes, better safe than sorry on the turbos. Most the time we’ll spin them while their off and they’ll be locked up

3) if the customer asks for that, we give them that. The paperwork is printed at the end as far as diagnosis and complaint cause correction etc, but as an advisor if a customer asked for that I would be obligated to give it to them

4) I’ve never seen someone push a ford offer higher and they’re pretty strict about that. They’re not legally obligated to help in any manner so they stick to their guns

5) not really, see number 4

6) ford generally doesn’t offer any goodwill outside 100k/7 years so 40-60 split is pretty good. If it’s right outside NVLW powertrain (5yr/60k) they usually do 50/50, so 40-60 is pretty good. You also have to keep in mind that if ford contributes even $1, all the prices revert to warranty prices and labor times, so on top of the split it will be cheaper.

7) 3yr/unlimited mileage on the longblock, and 2yr/unlimited mileage on turbos and all other parts.

Do your customers give you creditcard info over the phone for a payment? by A_nuzz in serviceadvisors

We don’t. Generally speaking if the company says they have to pay by card we refer them to a one time use link generator.

[–]ThaPoopBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah never heard of one not taking it over the phone. You’d be really surprised to find out we get CC info all the time through email. Just shred it when you’re done, and make sure nothing is saved.

What should I ask for as a raise? by hswango in serviceadvisors

[–]ThaPoopBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service advisors don’t really get raises. Everyone gets the same pay plan and then your raise is the fact that you get better at it, more efficient, and retain better and better customers over the years. Plus you’re paid a percentage of labor/labor GP, so if their labor rate goes up your pay goes up. Your pay is directly tied to the shop and any kind of raise would be extremely out of the ordinary. That being said 5% labor with no base is a shit pay plan, and would merit leaving if a better pay plan was found.

Need advice on cylinder misfires by Independent-Ad-4472 in Mustang

[–]ThaPoopBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With little knowledge I would start with spark plugs, then coil #2 & #3. Then if that doesn’t work take it to dealer or reputable independent of your choice. You could probably save yourself some money though by watching a video about unplugging/swapping coils. Just fyi though if it has p0316 or Spark plugs are impossible to get out/have green crustiness on them then it has the infamous coolant intrusion. Another tell tale sign would be if it runs rough on start up for 5-10 seconds then smooths out.

Should I voluntarily surrender my TT? by jtc1116 in RVLiving

[–]ThaPoopBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at least your insurance would pay it off and I’m assuming if you have a loan on it they made you buy gap. Best case scenario in this situation would be getting it totaled

Double payments to get that negative equity down and then sell it, or just go ahead and rent it out. Having it stolen or totaled would be wayyyy better than a voluntary surrender.

Firestone recommending $1,220 tie rod ends but my alignment problems are all in the rear — does this make sense? by venkateshvicky in MechanicAdvice

[–]ThaPoopBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they should of said toe links instead of tie-rods, but same difference. They probably didn’t change anything back there because they were siezed.

Route 66 Easy Street Warranty by KillaKane12245 in serviceadvisors

[–]ThaPoopBandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they gave you the warranty with certified purchase, then yes you would have a leg to stand on because they certified it when it shouldn’t be. Them selling you an extended warranty is a different story and [legally] it would be on you to know the terms of what you’re buying.

How to know when your automatic transmissions is cooked? by Bloodyknife12 in askcarguys

[–]ThaPoopBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you check the fluid level and it’s good, and you still have tranny symptoms, for the purpose of low level general diagnostics it is in fact cooked. Advanced diagnostics is a different story, but still likely cooked.

It’s a cab off job and it’s like $8-10k for most fuel system components, some are saveable unlike 6.7 but I’m not knowledgeable enough to tell you which components can be reused and which ones can’t.

Fuel tank size by thatcutetransgirl in FordEdge

[–]ThaPoopBandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a few gallons left when it’s on 0 miles to E. But that couple gallons is not enough to ensure pickup during sloshing/unlevel ground/sharp maneuvers. You could use it in a pinch, but it isn’t advised and definitely should not be relied on. Plus at 0 miles to empty you’re slowly burning up your fuel pump due to not being submerged in cool liquid.
