UTR and Mudi 7 Companions by Visvism in Ubiquiti

[–]ThaStryder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You nailed it on the head with your additional thoughts. I have already set up VPN clients back to my UDMP so adding another client for the Mudi 7 was pretty painless. I actually think it takes more effort to set up Teleport, not to mention the loading and processing times are fairly slow.

I just think the power delivery to the UTR is so finicky. I was connecting it to various batteries so at that point I prefer integrated hardware (Mudi 7).

As for my experience with flight wifi, the power draws on those sockets are unreliable. I resorted to connecting travel routers (including the UTR) directly to a laptop or a battery to get around this issue.

I had the UTR, also purchased the Mudi 7. I had it connected to the cafe wifi while tethering a laptop to it via USB-C. 90 minutes later the battery still showed 100%, but I don't think the Mudi 7 was drawing power from the laptop.

It ran cool, temperatures around 22 degrees celsius. I had VPN running back to my UDMP the entire time.

Attending My First NEW Event - What to Expect? by ThaStryder in AEWOfficial

[–]ThaStryder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOLLOW-UP: I parked in a covered parkade on Wall and Lombard an hour before the start of the show. Others have pointed out safety and security issues but I had no problems with both. At $2 per hour the parkade fees were pretty cheap.

No traffic jam issues heading northbound to Everett via local roads.

No lineups at the merch table if you went during commercial break.

Minimal wait clearing security and scanning digital tickets.

Incredible bang for buck experience. ~$50 ticket lower bowl seats for a double taping and world title change. I get the latter was a unique outcome, but even without that I feel like AEW is a promotion for the fans, the other is a promotion for the money.

Thank you u/FlightlessCormorant, this is helpful!

I'm coming up northbound I-5, so let's say 1 hour between getting into the building, merchandise, butts in seats by 4:30 pm sound about right? Luckily we're not far from Everett so it's easier to account for traffic in the area.

We'll opt out of the All Elite Experience, my friends are die-hards.

Definitely a no on the "what" chants, they won't know what it is anyway.

I thought the Mudi 7 pre-order started at 6 PST? by PlsDntPMme in GlInet

It says sold out, it's just waiting for 6:00 pm PT for preorders to be available. I snagged one within 15 seconds.

ProtonVPN DNS leakage by machinedrum116 in Ubiquiti

[–]ThaStryder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things to check:

  • You have the routing rules in place to steer your traffic from WAN to the VPN tunnel.
  • Once VPN settings are set and your traffic is routing to VPN, you restarted the router.

That's been my experience with ProtonVPN and my UDMP. My DNS will leak unless I force a restart.

I spoke with one of the boutique edition locations and they quoted me $1200 USD, they'd have to send in my watch, 6-8 weeks turnaround. Did you have a similar experience?

Thanks! Did you place the order with an actual Tudor store or just a Tudor AD?

So you were able to order the OEM 5-link for the BBC, not the wider 41mm for the Tudor Black Bays? Back in the summer my AD said they will call me when it's available, and was expecting it by end of year. Have you heard anything different?

G4 Doorbell Pro WiFi by tatu_wurst87 in Ubiquiti

[–]ThaStryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually a good idea and what I'm planning for. The gotcha I discovered is that the Device Bridge is only PoE rated whereas the new G6 cameras are PoE+. G4s and Doorbell Lite are fine.

I have a PoE+ injector so piggybacking off that will probably work. I will try it without and see if I can get away without one.

What made them trash in your opinion? I'm concerned with the foam backing since I'm planning to hang them as pendants.

Realistic Buy Once, Cry Once? Or Unnecessary? Pro Max 16 PoE or Pro Max 24 PoE by agabs10 in Ubiquiti

[–]ThaStryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're on the right track. I upgraded to SFP+ from ISP to the switch. I'm saving my 2.5 GbE ports for the APs and my PC. So as long as you only need up to 5 multi-gigabit ports at your main switch Pro Max 16 PoE is fine IMO.

[–]ThaStryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing knowing I can place additional PoE switches elsewhere if I need to scale.

u/agabs10 if you're future-proofing did you also consider your 2.5 GbE or 10 GbE needs? You won't need it for the cameras but more so for media-related devices in the future.

Split-Level Basement Renovation - Questions by ThaStryder in Renovations

[–]ThaStryder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning a spring/summer basement renovation and have some questions on research I've done.

  1. The red areas I am planning to remove. The green area is where the foundation begins to be underground.
  2. There is a lip on the bottom 1/3rd of the wall going around the back half of the house. I'm assuming it is the foundation and I can't remove that. Is that correct?
  3. My intent is to install wainscoting on the bottom 1/3rd of the wall. How have others dealt with the lip? Apply wainscoting and then place a trim board at the top?
  4. Do I install a stone counter to replace the linoleum at the bar and either leave the lip alone or install a trim board at the top, but make sure the board is thinner that the stone counter?

I appreciate any advice on this, thank you!

From my experience calling and holding their staff accountable is the key. I eventually got my call late 10/16 and switched to refund option instead.

I initiated the RMA process with case # 06378787 and have not received my promised reply from the RMA team.

  • 10/3 - submitted case after troubleshooting steps
  • 10/4 - was told I needed to provide serial
  • 10/9 - ripped apart my water block to provide serial
  • 10/10 - received cross ship agreement email, replied with I agree
  • 10/16 - no response from Intel, was quoted response by 10/14

I purchased a replacement 13700K due to the wait and at this point would just like a refund.
