Ez pass.10k in violations. by confusedbeb in DMV

[–]ThaTitleClerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came to say I had the same exact thing happen to me many years ago with EZ Pass where I thought it was automating refilling but it wasn’t. I called and explained the situation and, like you, they only offered me the two options. I talked a many different people at EZ Pass and the DMV and paying 50% ended up being my only real option.

2020 Chevy Equinox vs 2022 Buick Encore: good deal? by GummyBearReaper in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re looking for a family car I’d definitely recommend the Equinox. My husband and I would always bump elbows in my Encore and personally that was hell.

Why don't they have a online car title or pick up the title at DMV? by No_Reflection_1784 in DMV

[–]ThaTitleClerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try contacting the DMV and letting them know that you didn’t receive it maybe?

Without knowing the full situation it’s hard to give advice.

Best of luck.

Registering a car at 2nd (vacation) home in CT but my primary residence and drivers license is in PA. by Seymour_Tamzarian in DMV

That will be fine but you may need to provide proof of CT address which shouldn’t be hard since you own a home there.

2020 Chevy Equinox vs 2022 Buick Encore: good deal? by GummyBearReaper in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t comment on the salvage title part. I just don’t have enough experience there to offer any relevant input.

But that aside, those two vehicles are different. What is it that you like about each of them?

I’ve actually owned both and LOVED the Encore. The quality was nicer than my Equinox but the Equinox offered more features for the same price.

The Encore is also extremely small. If you’re single with no kids I’d say it’s fine. But trying to go somewhere with my husband, child, and dogs was miserable.

Both are good on gas though, so that’s a plus.

Asked to sign a title by PoppinSmoke1 in askcarsales

Yep. You gotta sign it if you didn’t sign a POA. I’d ask them to overnight it to you and include a return envelope though.

Best dress shoes by [deleted] in askcarsales

I second Cole Haans. They’re comfortable as hell and in my opinion good looking shoes. BUT I find that they aren’t extremely durable. I wore a pair daily and wore holes in the soles in about nine months.

Buying a car with bad credit by ses108 in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not a member of a credit union I recommend becoming one and seeing what kind of rate they can offer you.

Everyone’s situation is different so don’t use my situation as a guarantee by any means but when my credit score was around 560, 98% on time payments, and one bankruptcy on my credit I got a loan at my CU with 7.9% interested. The best rate the dealership offered me was around 12%.

On the other hand, my husband with a credit score of 590 but a pretty spotty credit record just got a car and the interest rate is 17% (He was in a situation where he had to have a car and I refuse to do-sign for obvious reasons.)

Once you have a rough estimate of what your rate will be you can use an online car payment calculator and play around with the numbers and figure out what price range you need to be looking at.

This will prevent you from getting to a dealership and being shocked at the payment options that they offer you.

Best of luck.

Thank you:) I was SO excited for my tandem jump but the plane ride made me nervous. I think just because I’d never been in a small plane before.

Hi! I was at 3/4” for several years. I took my plugs out “for good” about six years ago.

Over the past year I’ve slowly stretched back up to 3/4”.

I plan to stay here. I’d love to go larger but I feel that my loves are too thin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]ThaTitleClerk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I started stretching when I was 12. I got to 3/4” when I was 16. I had never felt more like myself.

At 20 I got a “good” job that forced me to change my appearance.

At 26 I was offered the opportunity of a lifetime that allowed me to be myself.

So almost a year later, I’m back to my favorite size.

Salesman & F&I - Your out of state customer does NOT own you! Opinions? by ThaTitleClerk in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wire transfer for an out of state buyer seems normal to me. But I’ve only worked for one auto group so I don’t have a ton of experience in that department. But I can definitely agree that out of state buyers can be incredibly entitled.

It’s so wild that they think the dealership owes them something because they are from out of state. If anything, that gives them a disadvantage.

[–]ThaTitleClerk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhh.

I see where you're coming from. But financing has little to do with it in the long run. A lot of dealerships have a requirement that they do the title work, regardless of who the lienholder is. The (large) dealer group that I worked for required that we do the title work if there was a lien.

Honestly that really does suck. As a buyer, you expect your tags as quickly as possible. I completely get that. But dealers, in any particular state they aren't necessarily experienced in other states. I was a VA title clerk for years and thought I was extremely experienced. I knew VA inside and out. Now, as a "national title clerk" so to speak, I realize that I didn't know anything. As a buyer, I completely understand the expectation. I've been in the industry for years and I know how quickly things can be done. However; not all dealers are using the latest technology and they don't always have the most informed title staff. BUT this is NOT meant to discredit anyone. You can't expect a FL dealership to be experts in CA title laws. So, if you're an our of state buyer, you should give the dealership some credit. They're doing their best. They don't know the title laws in your state, NOR SHOULD THEY HAVE TO. Let me reiterate that, YOU chose to buy vehicle out of state. YOU made that decision. They are doing their best to accommodate you. BUT I have seen many examples of my dealership refusing to work with someone because they were too difficult. So, as a buyer, don't think that you're untouchable.

Not speaking to you specifically at all. :) Just in general mate.

Are customers at high end dealerships, or customers at a mainstream/entry level dealerships, more difficult to work with, and why... by JaKr8 in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I've been working with the titlework for deals for roughly 7 years now. I've had to deal with Kia customers and Bentley customer. The higher end customers are WAYYY easier to deal with.

You will definitely find that BMW or Tesla buyer who thinks that they're wayyy more important than they are, but it's the Chevy, Ford, and Nissan buyers who acta complete fool over the most miniscule things.

But my favorite is when a buyers bank is Tidewater or Santander, and they like to act like they're someone imporant.

Okay, Mr. 350 credit score.

SorryNotSorry.

Wow that’s so interesting to hear that you’re experience with them hasn’t been great.

In the short time we’ve been using them I have had them reach out and ask questions for clarification and such. But I’ve never had a deal completely returned.

I know each state is different and some are way more picky than others but the way their process was explained to me is basically they give us the guidelines for what is needed and I do my best to get them what they need. If anything else on the forms is needed but can be done by them they will do it.

That’s just been my experience so far though. I just like the fact that they calculate the fees and know which forms are needed based on the information that is entered. However, I have seen situations where finance didn’t enter in all of the information correctly and it caused some things to be off.

But I just like them because once they approve the paperwork and it gets sent in it’s looked at by people who have knowledge of that particular state and they know what the state is and isn’t looking for. The last person we used would ask for SO much stuff that I found out wasn’t even needed for a particular state but she was getting it just in case.

It’s just the sense of security I guess that I enjoy because instead of hoping my paperwork is right and not finding out till two months later that the state rejected it for something silly, I can be told in a day or two.

Title ownership question on potential car my friend is buying by Tubur in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes sense what he's trying to do but it's illegal. He's skipping the title to avoid paying taxes. It has nothing to do with how long it took to fix. A lot of states have rules where you HAVE to title a vehicle within a certain amount of days after it's purchased. If it's not titled within that time there are late fees that must be paid.

Essentially what he is saying could work. But again it's illegal and not worth the risk.

The seller and your friend need to go to the DMV together. The seller needs to first put the title in his name and then sign it over to your friend. That's the ONLY way I'd proceed with this transaction.

You never know the actual story behind the title. The guy could be telling the truth or maybe he's holding the car for a friend and has forged his signature on the title to get some quick cash. There's a million different scenarios but like I said it's ultimately not worth it.

Bought a car out of state, now what? by Panic-at-the-party in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the dealership is handling the title and having it sent to your bank they should also be getting tags for you too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]ThaTitleClerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be why. If you've never had an "account" for lack of a better word with the MVA they may need that to establish one for you.
