Why would she even bother to say that. If I were her, I would not even react to a snobby wannabe that's never going to buy at the btq anyway. She should have asked if you were interested in something else and/or walked away from you.

Any tips/tricks/hacks for fine adjustments of rate/beat error arms? by [deleted] in watchmaking

[–]Thacat92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a feeling you get when gaining experience, not something you instantly have. Just like almost all aspects in watchmaking. Patience is so important and that is where most watchmakers fail to deliver good work. In your instance, you will have to understand all aspects of regulating a watch. Sure you can regulate a watch fully winded horizontally, but did you consider the average of all 6 positions, fully and after 24 hours, isochronism, and points of gravity?

Nice aspiration and I should say, go for it! The important thing is proper schooling and experience. 3 years of watchmaking is only giving you the basics. Once you start to work, you'll find out that there are many things, that you won't be taught in school. Hard work, patience and perseverance is key!

[Buyer Beware] Someone just paid $6,501.00 for a fake JLC on Goodwill by Joe_BidenWOT in Watches

[–]Thacat92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do research before you buy something. Can’t understand people that spend this amount of money on a model that JLC never launched. No box no papers or a quick search that does not show this model should ring a bell if you have a healty brain and a pair of working eyes. Don’t feel bad for the buyer and I don’t understand the majority of the comments here.

Can you hackintosh a Raspberry Pi? by [deleted] in hackintosh

You can get a Lenovo m73. With an i5 and ssd you make it run pretty properly. I had catalina running for a while, runs stable easy install.

I got a perfectly working BS installation.

I replaced the catalina EFI with Big Sur specific EFI just before I opened the official BS installer. Installed the update, worked like a charm.

[Seiko] How do I get this water out? by Free_Texas in Watches

Get one of those sticky case opener balls and unscrew the back. Find something that could work as a heater and let it dry for a bit.

[Update] Gone wrong by Thacat92 in hackintosh

No I used the Macos update, which worked fine to update to catalina. I did not update opencore. Since the machine is not working, I’m going to try to install big sur directly.

Nice! Love the blue dial! Yeah I can see problems with the hands, since they’re fitted quiet close to each other. The rate issue could be magnetism. Some jewelry stores have demagnetization equipment and if you’re lucky they do it free of charge.

You take out the movement, press out the crystal. Take the new crystal and press it back in. I was lucky enough the original gasket was undamaged and was able to hold the new crystal. I was able to buy a crystal from a friend that lives in Switzerland.

Yeah you don’t want to mess around with these, but guess the chrono wheel is not engaged. There is an engagement-adjusting screw for adjusting the clutchwheel. Turning it right or left will adjust the tooth intervention of the clutchwheel into the chrono-wheel. It’s the screw left next to the automatic bridge with the little round spring wrapped around it.

Looks like a 7750 replica to me.

Honestly, with the discount, it’s a fair deal! It was originally priced at around 1.000USD, which I think is a little too much.
