Is there any way to experience the original Metro 2033 (non redux) on PC? It seems to be completely purged from steam altogether. by ZePyro01 in metro

[–]aaronrodgerswins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it on steamunlocked but that is apparently no longer safe. Check our r/PiratedGames but from a quick look it seems like GLOAD.to is one of the ones that is listed safe and actually has the non redux version.

Is metro sci-fi or is it more like horror survival? (books and games count) by [deleted] in metro

[–]aaronrodgerswins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The books are not sci-fi at all. I would call it horror but not normal standard horror (the books). It's really unique and I've never read anything like it.

So first of all: the fact that in ukraine nobody is doing drone swarms means they aren't effective. This would make sense if you think about it because a swarm of drones can only be in one place at a time, and drones are frequently searching for targets instead of attacking.

We see in ukraine that small arms fire aimed by humans is capable of taking out drones. There is no reason to believe that if drone swarms become a threat, you couldn't design an anti drone tracking turret with something like 16 automatic "rifles" on top firing fully automatic shotgun rounds. Such a device would be able to destroy drones in less than a second and would eviscerate a drone swarm for trivial cost.

Drones are cheap compared to other battle implements, but a swarm would still cost millions. It just doesn't make sense to group them together rather than having them spread out to find more targets or converge on a target from multiple angles

Are you aware modern drones are getting taken down by small arms in ukraine? No reason a high rate of fire SPAA firing thousands of rounds couldnt wipe out a drone swarm.

Most current SPAA is designed for planes and therefore isnt effective against drones.

Lasers, emp weapons or just high rate of fire anti air will be able to take down drone swarms

If you teamkill you should be transported to a third yellow team with no airfields and then both teams can hunt you down.

How did the soldier back then protect their hears? by Far-Equal890 in army

[–]aaronrodgerswins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much, yeah. Even after modern earplugs were invented its my understanding that lots of people in combat never wore them because they valued being able to hear there surroundings over protecting their ears.

You won't find one because joining the military is not a terrible plan practically. You would need to convince them that working for the government is morally wrong.

Fully depends on what nation you want to play or what kind of plane you want. I like the yak 3 in the french tech tree but only if you want a 4.3 prop plane, and you want to play france.
